Hi all, I have just joined this site after a google search led me here with a query about a loco I just purchased. I am an occasional modeler in N-scale, mostly working by myself (no club affiliation) but I have joined NMRA. I live in Victoria BC Canada. I started with the usual Lionel 027 trainset as a kid, ending with a fairly large but lightly detailed layout in the upstairs of my parent's home. Then later I started a (too) complex HO layout in the basement of my new home until the kids needed more room to play so it got ripped out. Later my wife bought me an N-scale loco to get me back into the hobby and a layout has been taking shape (off and on) for several years. I have now adopted Digitrax DCC, adding decoders to the locos I had including squeezing one into the Altas Shay. The electrical part is easy for me, it is the artistic side that is an effort! Dave
Dave- Welcome to TrainBoard! I am your opposite, in the electrical part (DCC) being an effort, but artistic is much easier.
Hi Dave, Welcome. Sounds like you are going to have lots of fun, and we are here to share and help. Are your kids showing any interest, or are they too young?
Welcome aboard Dave, living in the beautiful Vancouver, BC. The scenery there in the winter is unmatchable. Hmm, would you try to model winter on your layout?
Welcome aboard Dave . If you are looking at adding logging or mining check out the TB group here http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/group.php?groupid=24. Not a lot of DCC but some great ideas for logging . Some of us live in the Pacific North West so it stands to reason that logging ( I logged 1:1 for a time in Idaho ) would have its own group . Please have a look ! Paul
Welcome, Dave. I think you'll find quite a lot of inspiration here for all aspects of the hobby - enjoy!
