Hi every one! OK, I want to here what every one else thinks of the new Atlas tank car. My view is that it is one of the best N scale cars EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!! I took it out of the box and could not believe my eyes!!!! IT IS SWEET! I got the all black Honeymead tank car and WOW! Plus, it has the new trucks and the Accumate coupler on it are GREAT. (I hope Atlas sells these trucks in 10 packs) These new couplers work just like MT's in the fact that they uncouple over a magnet and another good thing is that the trip pin on them is black, not a gold color. Although some details are weak (physically), I think this is one of the best if not the best N scale car EVER!!!!!! YOU GOTTA SEE ONE!!!!! ------------------ Craig Martyn BLMA(best looking models around) Custom painting and detailing AND N scale detail parts!!! Have not gotten the tank car yet so have not been able to test the couplers BUT it was reported on another board that there is no delayed uncoupling with the accumate coupler. Is this so? And Atlas plans to psckage the coupler and trucks ala MT but as of right now it has not been formalized. I'm getting some tanks this week as it was reported the trucks roll better than MT's and this I got to see .
Yes, you HAVE to see. I also heard they didn't automaticly uncouple, so maybe it was just me but I tried the tank with several MT cars and it worked. Maybe when you have two Accumates together they don't work, but with an MT and and Accumait together they will. ???? But again, these cars are GREAT!!!!! ------------------ Craig Martyn BLMA(best looking models around) Custom painting and detailing AND N scale detail parts!!!

These are great cars, tis true but DELAYED uncoupling, no can do Some say they can, and perhaps they may But this old boy, may first turn gray Ed (sorry for the rhyme) Harrison [This message has been edited by ten87 (edited 03 July 2000).]
They are great cars I have also heard from some one else that delayed uncoupling is a bit of a problemo, and she changed over to MTs, but still used the AccuMates. The cars have good detail, I had problems with the wheel sets provided, so I dropped in some spare Micro Trains ones I had lying on the floor (yes, the floor, my carpet has turned into the place where I repair cars. Atleast when school was on, my desk actully had to be used ). They were not perfectly circle, and when they were run it was hitting the ballast on my track. I would give them 8/10, there is still some detial they could do a better job on, and I just don't give 10s on anything but locos Why Who knows? Happy Railroading!! I finally got mine... I actually like the couplers. They seem more solid and less fidgety then the MTs. But Atlas still needs work on their wheels. MT has them beat with that. There's at least one bumpy axle on each car I got. But one other thing... Does the height of the cars seem a little too high to anybody else? The railings go above a standard box car, and there just seems to be a heck of a lot of room under the car. I'm wondering if Atlas didn't fudge a little to be able to get their new trucks under the walkway by having the pin part of the car come down farther. Dave D. Picked up some of these new tanks early in the week. The cars I got seem to run very smooth. They don't seem to have the wheelset problems mentioned above. Didn't notice that the cars seemed tall until I saw it mentioned in the previous post but they do look a little tall don't they? Oh well, guess I will still have to get a few more.
