Another Walthers kit I'm getting ready for paint. I was worried about my back shop being too big but this thing is no slouch either lol.

OK I'm in love!! First off I like those cars and want the 1:1 version, but this is absolutely awesome! Good job and where can I get my hands on one myself. Ruby metallic if possible.

MY workbench has not my stuff on it. Aside from working on my friend's truck for the last few weeks, I am now working on another friend's modules. He has 3 quads (or close to quads) that make up a yard and short 2 track intermodal yard that isn't wired up to T-Trak Standards. This was one of the big gripes I had with my old club, they had both lines wired to one plug. When they were a loosely based omni-rail/T-Trak it was fine as the club had a collection of modules and then this yard was part of the mix, and the layout was linear with balloon loops at each end, this worked out well for them. Then I joined and threw wrenches at monkeys and wanted a true T-Trak setup, we voted on it and it was so... but it wasn't, now the club isn't so there is that. My new club is a true T-Trak club, but they had some of their own ideas on how power poles were to be wired, I, having all my modules to the standard was hoping I wouldn't have to change again. Well the guy that handled the wiring at the club liked how I made my jumper harnesses and he also noticed how I followed the standards, which made interconnections easy and proof for fools, he decided to change his modules up, and the club owned ones as well. OK this has gotten longer than I intended, but if you have read this far, thank you, and now to what I am doing. I am reconfiguring my friend's T-Trak module to be in the standards, and building him the jumper harnesses I make. I don't have any pics, but you all have seen my jumpers before, they pretty much look just like that again.

Oh, and I have gotten a little bit more done on the Train Wreck module, but that will be a post on the T-Trak page when I get to it.

Thank you very much. I got the car off of shapeways. If you supply the paint and model we can work something out... just PM me.

A Walters coaling tower, but after opening the box I might be to old for this!
Boy it has some small parts.

Well, I sat down to decal Ann Arbor #303, to finally have the pair of RS2s they rostered towards the end of carferry operations. Then I looked at the Microscale decal sheet I just got, and for the locomotive decals, the white printing was misaligned and underneath where it needed to be. So, another sheet is on order…

It’s amazing to me how different the orange looks as-sprayed. This is the same can, believe it or not! Once I finish decalling, I hit it with a layer of clearcoat, and then a thorough layer of dullcoat. The mechanism for 303 already has a decoder, so I’m itching to finish it up!

Jeff Merrill texted last night and said "Your friend Mark stopped by and seen the Safeway and liked it", so I replied it must have been Mark St Clair from our early Ntrak days. I did not think they had enough time before the convention to get it powered up and placed on a module, so I wondered if they were going to share it. :D I 'm glad you liked it.

That is really cool. Reminds me of high school in the 1970's! Wish I had bought a muscle car for like $2,00 back then, couldn't afford it, and just stuck it in a garage :) Very cool indeed! At that time $2,000 seemed like a million working at a grocery store for $1.00 and hour. And maybe 30 hours a week. Money went for gas eating old vehicle and dates. Seems like gas was like .40 cents a gallon maybe? My memory is bad now. Broke till the next weeks pay. Man those were the days.

I finally got access to my workbench and set up a loop of track for a tram, and started working on the software for my TC4. I discovered a couple things.

    1. The voltage regulator chip that provides 5v to the Arduino and the H-bridge chip gets stupid hot. I need to look into using a different chip. I have one that I’m gonna test here soon. I want to see how long this one lasts first.

    2. When there is a sensor not being used, a jumper wire is needed between the signal and positive. I could make this with a pull up resistor, but that will just add cost, the jumper wires work perfectly and are cheap.

    3. I need to develop some code in the speed setting department. When the TC4 fires up the tram goes really fast. It keeps going fast until you adjust the speed settings, then it slows back down. I need it to start slow. I think I may add a preset value into the variable in the setup phase, which will then be adjusted by the analogRead command.

    4. And I need to remake the video I was making to go with this post so the show my daughter was watching on the TV do not distract from what I’m trying to say. She watches this guy on YouTube that plays indie games and he likes to scream into the mic if the game has a jump scare, or if he gets excited about something. He was louder than me when I was recording…

So tomorrow, I will rework the video and post it up.

Refresh my memory about what the TC4 is. I did a search but couldn't find the previous posts about it.

The TC4 is an Arduino powered board im developing to automate a tram/train to make up to 4 stops, and it will operate in one of the 4 different modes im programming it for. Its a more complex version of my tram layout design, but on a single board and user friendly. I will once the software is ready make it available for purchase.

Thank you! By the time I was old enough to drive the 70's seemed long gone although my first car was a derelict 74 Mustang II (re-skinned pinto) that was perfect for wrenching on in my auto shop class. While my classmates revered the camaro's, mustangs and chargers of the late 60's and early 70's the challenger rarely got a mention but to me it was my dream car. The newest generation is a much improved car as one would expect but if I had the money my next car would be a 1970 challenger for sure.

Decided with the recent posts on car washers that it would be cheaper and more fun to build my own. So I started with some .040 sheet styrene and a nice cheap pack of pipe cleaners from a Vape shop. Found they have all sorts of colors of pipe cleaner there so ended up with a pack of what could pass for brushes in color.

Built each was using structural shapes in styrene and crafted the holders for the brushes. The blue pipes are the water spray pipes and there are three rotating brushes each side with water spray between the brushes.

Since I use Kato untrack a section was used with jigs and spacers to get the right width.

An overhead shot showing a 44 tonner in the wash rack. Styrene I beams form the overhead bracing along with other styrene shapes. And water supply lines are on the outside of each side. The Unitrack section has been removed so it can be just set over a track in my engine terminal and all that remains is to install two control stations on each end that control the on off of the wash rack.

My grain elevator and paper mill assembled enough for paint.

Images below show an approximate relative location on my planned layout for all of these larger structures I've assembled. Things will be tight and I had to adjust location/orientation of the paper mill to ensure a more realistic ingress/egress of the elevators for semi trucks . For a bit there I was thinking I might have to ditch one of the industries.

I've a few more details that I ordered for the paper mill and am considering some external silos to add on to the elevator but thinking I might wait to get the silos till I have the layout built and can ensure there will be room for them.
