Not sure if most of you pay attention to the '3D Printing and More' section on here or not. I've been posting about a turntable ..... .... I'm developing to go along with the 3D printed roundhouse that I have files up for. You might not have a 3D printer at this time but if you get one this would be one example of how you could put it to use in addition to many other items others have put up here and elsewhere. Here is the link.... https://www.trainboard.com/highball...d-printed-turntable-with-a-controller.136771/ .... and maybe give some more thought to getting a 3D printer when that is an option for you, Sumner
I WANT a 3d printer, but if history has taught me anything, it's that wanting and USING is two entirely different things. I wanted an Alps printer so I could print my own decals. Got one (years ago), never finished any of the decals, and eventually the serial printer ports went away and I sold it never using it for anything. I see all of the cool stuff others are printing, but after d/l a design program or two, I quickly found out that I didn't want to take the time to learn how to use them (and I'm an IT guy). Still, some day maybe in the future, if enough ready-to-print stuff becomes available...I still WANT one.
I have almost 100 different items up on thingiverse.com and that is just me. Go there and you will find a ton of items. Some have to be useful . Thingiverse is just one site, there are more. With YouTube videos one can learn in a couple hours or far less how to almost run, fix, or do about anything. It isn't like the old days of going to the library and hoping they had something about what you were interested in or waiting on someone somewhere to maybe write an article about it. Get the printer and have fun, Sumner
Moose totally agree ... Sooo tempted to get into 3D modeling. Space and cost keep it out of reach. Glad to be able to follow along in your adventures!
