It's kind of crude but it does work. I may add a few more PC board ties and then use wood for the rest. Have not decided if I should make it DCC friendly or not. Still don't know which way my layout will be.

That is the way I used to build turnouts - but in O scale, not Z!!! Good work [IMG]

Good job! I would suggest at least one more PC tie across the guard rails before the frog, just to hold it all in place.

What code rail did you use?

Nice job! I still have to build a bunch of turnouts for my module. I hate building turnouts! I like handlaying track though. [IMG] [IMG]

Well, here is #2. It looks a little better than the first. A learning process for sure. One of these days I may get good at this. :D After a little research, I found out an easy way to make them DCC friendly so if I ever decide to go that way, its done. I was going to switch power to the frog anyway.

No jigs. Just some templates I made. I cut and shape the rail and lay them out on the ties over the templates and solder. I am probably doing something wrong but as long as they work, I am happy.

I might just have to freehand a couple myself. I have the igs for code 40 rail, but the code 55 rail, which is what I need for my Z Bend Track mainlines, won't fit in the milled grooves for the rails.

Yeah, I am using Intermountain Code 55 rail for my switches and Peco Z flex track. They seem to line up OK so that is the way I am going right now.

Been looking at the fast track jigs. What code rail would match the Micro-Trains flex track?

Russell, "Intermountain code 55"?????? or do you mean Micro Engineering?

Bill,I think you tell them what track your using when you order them, they will mill to suit.

Thanks for the reply. Been on the fence about Z track. Just at the point where if I invest in more Marklin track, might as well go all the way. But Marklin's looks plus $$$ are giving some definite hesitation.
Not holding my breath for MT turnouts either.

    Keep ZZZing.

What I am hearing is the we should see MT section track later this year. Turnouts will be coming next year. This may change of course but I know MT has been working on Z turnouts for a number of years.
