    Hello folks,

I've been converting my German prototype locos and freight cars to MTL couplers and they have worked pretty well. I'm having a problem with doing the same on passenger cars. The couplers just don't swing apart over an MTL magnetic uncoupler track. Rather the trucks are attracted to the magnet and roll towards it. The problem appears to be Marklin passenger car trucks having an elongated metal plate that serves as the coupler cover. This is attracted to the magnet. Has anyone had this issue? If so, how did you resolve it... I suppose I could remove the part of the plate that doe not serve as a coupler cover. Any input is welcome.

I figured out what the problem was... I used the original Marklin coupler spring instead of the Microtrains copper ones. Once I switched the springs, the replacement couplers worked as they should and magnetically uncoupled fine. All is well that ends well.

    Thanks,
    Ajay

    Ajay,

I did not chime in due to the fact that I have no experience in converting couplers yet.
But I am glad you posted, as I learned something! And it will be useful in the future.
I am also glad you figured it out.
