I'm looking to model a few autoracks like the attached pics from Tom Stolte's & George Elwood's sites and would like to know if the siding is metal, plastic or fiberglass? I'm assuming that sunlight lighting the top panels. A couple of former C&EI racks are definitely sided with metal (last pic).

    Thanks! ~Tim

Tim, IIRC the side panels were corrugated metal.

They look metal to me, but one source of info could be the MoPac group on Yahoo

    Hello Tim-

You are correct, the top two pics are fiberglass, the last is galvanized metal panel. A few railroads used the fiberglass as a less expensive alternate to the metal panels, but soon realized that the fiberglass got brittle and broke off. Hope this helps.
