Someone stated a unit was in town that was # 9727 and had a satellite dome on it... is this a new NS feature or a test project?

    Good shots, Harold.

I plan on modeling one of those sometime. All I have to do (besides buying all the detail parts, etc.) is figure out the mix of paint to give it that gray-olive tint green color.

I've seen a few of the new ones with those satellite thingies, too. I'm not sure what they are for. Chris?????

A lot of our(ns)units are being funded by the BNSF.That explains the satalite domes in one way.The other thing is that Railroads that use the power as lease units sometimes loose the engines. We sometimes loose power and find it when we are done using it.With the GPS domes the owners know where they are at all times.

These units are equipped with Pinpoint (GPS tracking). I was told that the previous order was also equipped with this, but none of the photos I have of the previous order units are from the right angle to tell for sure.

The NS units are NOT being financed by BNSF. This is just another of the many rumors that make the rounds. One day it's that BNSF is paying the NS payroll, the next day its the power, and there have been tons of reported imminent merger announcements for at least the last 5 years. Wishful thinking maybe, but no truth to it at this point.
