Taken September 16th....a beautiful area....very much underrailfanned. It was nice to have the whole place to one's self.
Dude!!!! That first shot takes the cake--how far did you hike to get it? Beautiful shots! I love having a railfan spot all to myself with a friend... Why do you think I like to hike in to the boonies?
Mike, did you drive in there across the tracks at the old depot in Kingman? I have a daughter living there and son-in-law took me in there. Lots of photo ops and lots of traffic. Hope to get there for Christmas this year. :tb-biggrin:
Thanks for the comments gang. Access is extremely easy there. Thats why I've wondered why there aren't more railfans visiting there. I know there are railfans in Northern AZ, and near the Phx area...I guess with so many opportunities in AZ especially along the Seligman sub,...Kingman Canyon is just small part of the railroad world pie. Access is right off of the former Route 66, now called National Trails Hwy. The road run approximately 1 mile from the top to the bottom of Kingman Canyon.
Great stuff Mike, I'd like to get up there sometime, it would be an extra hour's drive for me some weekend, but it would be nice to see some new territory. Thanks for posting these.
Always good to see the good railfan sights from ya'lls part of the world! Amazing how much a shot can improve, when you move beyond the grade crossings...
Mike, You said in another post that you just point and shot. Man I wish my point and shots would come out like that. Your photos are wonderful to see.
