Thr third one looks like it was just the color of the plastic. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk.
But that is just like buying "New Car Smell" spray for an '83 Caprice. It's faking the funk and is like having a blue label Kadee-MT car without ribbed wheels. The secret is safe with us. Just don't tell the folks on eBay.
As previously pointed out, factory air weights more than regular air so as long as the boxes remain horizontal, the air stays within. One other note, creating 'fake' factory air or collecting new factory air isn't the some as vintage factory air. There's just no way to represent the 'musty' smell age brings.
But the listing won't specify "vintage factory air," just "factory air." Like the guy who shipped me a car without a jewel box and said, "The listing didn't specify there was a jewel box." On a side note, on Kadee-MT cars, I have mentioned, "factory air" in my listings to see if you guys are watching. Andy Tetsu Uma
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-Train...228328?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item43be94bfe8 "This car is listed as used because I cannot guaranty [sic] the status of the factory air." Now there's a seller with a sense of humor. And a low bid to start. No affiliation, of course. BTW, only five listings as I write this which include the phrase "factory air" in the entire N Scale lineup.
Tell me it's an optical illusion. The paperwork, sealed inside the box with the factory air....at the nose of the trailer, does it appear that mice have eaten the paperwork away?
I don't currently have any listings for Kadee-MT Blue Label cars. Here's one for my listing of a Presidential Oath of Office car last Christmas. "Up for auction and just in time for Christmas is a brand new, Micro-Trains Presidential Oath of Office boxcar #118 of 200. This car was offered as a prize in a contest offered by Micro-Trains and was never available for sale. This jewel box for this car has not been opened and still contains the factory air. Here is your chance to own an N-Scale collectable in a numbered, limited edition of 200."
Hey this is actually my first post (will be posting some of my projects soon) but I couldn't help: "N scale Dash 8" ebay.com/itm/N-scale-Dash-8-/121158514876 (apparently 1 of 2 that pulled 100 cars on his layout) and another "Dash 8" from the same guy: ebay.com/itm/N-scale-Dash-8/121158506585
When I tried to access the eBay offering linked by Lazer I only got the generic auction site page- or actually, one personalized for me, not the one to which lazer referred. I wonder if the auction site has somehow changed how it responds to URLs so that people cannot post specific items here. Or???
Here's the links he's referring to: http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-scale-Dash-8-/121158514876?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1c359c38bc http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-scale-Dash-8-/121158511997?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1c359c2d7d
The links are not workable. If you copy the item numbers into the eBaY search box, they come up just fine. The first item is a C&NW Bachmann SD40-2. The other another C trucked EMD (Kato- UP), too fuzzy for me to see what it was (SD45?), but neither is a "DASH 8". Both items the auctions have ended with no bids.
Okay, I HAD to post this one. Even though the highest price single non special run MT car sold in recent history is $160: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-Train...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 This guy wants $1898 for a Canadian National 50' FMC SD box car...'Long DISCONTINUED. VERY rare and hard to find': http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Mic...384278?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item35c1110316 Yet a quick serch shows that there is another identical car for sale...same box number, same road number, $22. Maybe I should have kept quiet and bought this one and sold it for $900... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kadee-Micro...302272?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item51b07c8800
Since none of this seller's other items were grossly overpriced, I'm going to give them the "missed a decimal" mulligan - this time.
I remember that listing. I don't remember what it sold for. I have one of those also, I forget the number. Didn't win it in the MTL "guess the next Presidential Car" contest until near the end. Of course, I was telling everyone who got the UMTRR what the answer was, which diluted my chances but did help a lot of my readers win cars!
Misplaced decimal point, perhaps? The other items listed by the same seller don't seem that far out of line. Edit: Obviously TetsuUma and I are the great minds that think alike... although he's clearly better at quoting...
I have two. I won the first one about 1/2 way through. My sister saw that I won and started entering. She won on her second try and gave it to me. It didn't sell BTW so I still have it. I put on a kinda crazy price to see if anyone would bite. Then there is some guy trying to corner the market who has eight or nine of them. Andy Tetsu Uma
