Yikes. I only have one remaining issue. Wish I still had the others, so I could get rich. Loaned them out to "friends": who never returned them. I'm familiar with that seller. A lot of good quality stuff, but usually very common and ten times what it normally sells for.
Yes, these are out of production and hard to find, but WHAAAAAAAAT?? https://www.ebay.com/itm/187104074996
And not much "about" information. "United States" narrows down the location... I'm thinking seller is aiming for the "gotta have this specific item and I don't care what it costs" buyer.
He's in the USA. Fast and easy to deal with him. Right now I am drawing a blank on the State. East of the Mississippi. I have not purchased from him since mid-last year. Paper railroadiana seller, who will often have a bunch of train orders listed- Which is my forte'. (I have one of the top five or six largest such collections in the world, and have known all of the others with sizable accumulations, for many decades now.) His prices are normally listed at about $20.00, but the items generally are about $2.00 to 2.25 in actual worth. Unless rare or unusual, they generally sit there a long time at his range.
A MINITRIX .. Yeah right ! More Like a LIMA. N-Gauge/Scale Minitrix #2086 AT&SF 2-6-4 Steam Engine/Tender | eBay Not in this sellers Lifetime! And his item specifics List it as a 0-6-0 . Tom
Working copies of the infamous AHM/Lima 2-6-4T "Q1B" loco, which that is, are pretty uncommon... but not that uncommon. I've seen equally, ahem, optimistic, pricing for these locos at in person train shows.
I know very little about 3D printing, but I'm aware that the technology has far surpassed this effort. The Seller cautions that "you will have to likely do some finishing work and painting to complete the engine. This shell is not adapted for use on any particular pre-made locomotive chassis, as this is designed to be a project basis rather than a ready to use shell."
File this under "International Shipping Shenanigans"... A thread on "another network" that isn't about trains included a post by a seller who combined shipping on a three lot order and carefully packed it before sending it over the eBay International Shipping Center... ... only to have eBay split the shipment back into its individual lots and charge the buyer a total of $74! The buyer hit the seller with three negatives, one for each item. eBay's AI was not interested in rectifying the situation: "Well, the buyer DID have a negative experience. Here are some tips for how you can do better next time." This goes beyond sleaze. I suppose it's not humorous either...
That technology is in use way too soon. I have seen so many times already where it is in error, or shows nonsense. "Intelligence" it clearly lacks.
