Just a sad state of affairs for this to be posted on eBay... probably does more harm than good for N scale. I just don't go to eBay to buy or even contemplate selling there.

For me, it's the idiotic listings that repeat month after month and never sell that spoil the eBay experience. I've sold a lot of my excess there with good success, but I had things priced realistically and all was well photographed and well described. I point out every flaw I can see. I'd rather get less money than have to deal with upset Buyers. Rather than sell things piecemeal, I'd gather up locomotives, rolling stock and cabooses from one road or region. Buyers seemed to like this "1 Lot" approach and it made the process a lot easier for me.

Supposedly, that one and the NYC Atlas ninety ton are hard to come by; this means that he should have stated RARE! in his listing. If the pumpkins are glued in, that will, of course, diminish the value as would the missing original box.

That is pushing it. I have gathered up junk, labelled it as "JUNK", put it up in a lot and have been surprised at what it fetched. Sometimes you DO NOT leave any stone unturned.

If he can get ninety five for the crane and boom tender, I should have been able to get at least thirty apeice for the two cranes (minus the boom tender) that I sold on FeePay. I got fifteen apiece for both and had to list one twice.

Well... the cost of shipping is definately a component of those selling prices... even if it says "free shipping".

Still ridiculous pricing... specially for the set of terminal joiners.

These sellers must suffer from FOMO... Fear Of Missing Out... on uninformed buyers.

Yep... but the current cost for these has gone up to about $7.00 at some discount etailers from MSRP of $8.50. These old items can be obtained cheap outside of eBay and etailers.

It's not just ebay anymore. I've seen folks at train shows within the last couple of years selling old 1970's and 80's Model Power and Bachman U36B's and F units at the same price point of a gently used Atlas or Kato locomotive. I do my best to try to discreetly educate folks new to the hobby looking at these items. Sometimes I just blurt out laughing calling it high priced junk to the dismay of the individual behind the table. Maybe I need more sensitivity training.

I have posted this same complaint many times in the past. How these GOUGERS create a false impression of hobby costs, for the new and unfamiliar. Thus hampering our growth, let alone survival.
