I fell for something last year that was just too good to be true. The funny thing was that I suspected something wrong because it was the exact same photo for 6 different sellers with the same price and none of the sellers had more than 10 sells. The item was half the going price and I figured that since there were so many items or sale at this price that there must have been a big closeout sale some place.

Well it turned out that the sellers were actually tied together with different locations around the country and were selling items they didn’t even have. When I paid for my item they took my money from PayPal and used a stolen credit card number unknown to me to order the item from a legit retailer to send to me.

The credit card number that they used for my stuff was already listed as stolen when they ran it and It just happened that my address was in the files at a company who knew me because I bought hundreds of stuff from them. They sent me a copy of the transaction and I submitted it to eBay who sent it to PayPal and they refunded my money, but there is no telling how many times they got away with this.

Now I’m very suspicious of multiple items with the same photos from different sellers.

I see excessive shipping sometimes on an item I want and think I should buy it and leave negative feedback for excessive shipping. But, the seller listed his shipping charges and I committed to buy. It really would not be fair to leave negative for something I knew and willingly accepted.

I just pass and look for the item again.

Report them, one thing eBay cannot stand is a seller trying to skim off the top. I've reported some sellers and their auction was removed.

It does look like HO. Even with free shipping, way out of line.

Yep and he will sell it because some dumb @$$ who doesn't know better will buy it. These sold for much less back when they first came out and weren't worth fooling with back when. You can do better at a Lowe's, Home Depot or your local hardware store.

Check with your LHS or Mike to see if they have something better. Betting they do.

Johnny, the problem with e-pay it's the perfect place to hide out and fence stolen goods. In this case they were making money because they were using someone else's money so they could take yours. To much of that happening out there. I'd love to set-up a sting to nail these B@$+@rds.

    "I'm rich! I'm wealthy! I'm financially secure!"
    --Daffy Duck

(I thought it best to not link to one of any number of Looney Tunes clips of questionable legality which are out there on the Interwebs, so as to not get TB in trouble.)

That's an excellent thought, George. Daffy Duck would be a good mascot for those sellers.

From some of the stuff I have seen on the site it would appear the creators of Looney Tunes could derive some inspiration from it.

Unless my old eyes are deceiving me or it is an optical illusion that never been out of the box and undamaged car is suffering a severe collapse of the rack that is leaning to the left. Yet the box appears undamaged of course one doesn't see the box top condition. Heat exposure from an attic storage? Yet the box doesn't show it. Means used and damaged and worthless to have gotten in that condition.
