Welcome back, everyone! It's Indian Summer in SW Germany, and I'm enjoying the weather while it's still nice. There was a ton of great material to dig thru this week, so let's get started! Jim Wiggin brings back ConRail's early days (and yes, I did spell that right) before Big Blue, when Lehigh Valley Cornell Red, Penn Central "worms", Reading Yellow and Green, New York Central Lightning Bolts and Erie Lackawanna Maroon ruled the Northeast: Jon Grant is building an NS high short hood SD40-2: Arctic Train's SD70MAC has its work cut for it as it grinds upgrade with a cut of heavy bulk tank cars: Flash Blackman gives us all Bloody Noses as his Geeps work San Antonio's yard:
Zscaler represented the small scale crowd with a fine Santa Fe steam locomotive (check out the trackmobile, too!): Pete D shared a few pieces of rolling stock dedicated to famous model railroads; here's the Allegheny Midland: BillMock caught some Espee Geeps drifting downgrade across the Truckee River at last light--another fine example of Z scale! And last but not least, Friscobob visited a local show, and grabbed some fantastic shots of the finely detailed contest models. Here's my favorite, a Moffat service (note the smoke deflector mounted to the stack--a Moffat Tunnel prerequisite) Denver & Salt Lake 2-8-2 400-class, with an unusual feedwater heater mounted to the smokebox door: That's all for this week!
Great photos all around! BillMock's photo has a nice lighting angle. Hard to guess that this is Z scale!eek:
Wow! Thanks for including my photo. It's a old photo that I happend to find, so I thought that I'd post it. It's a little hard to see the Geeps, but I like the back lighting of the trees and sparkle of the water. I gotta take some more photos! Thanks again. Bill Mock
