What's the minimum radius for the F7 and GP35? I built a small suitcase layout today, and 3" rad curves are just too sharp, and a truck keeps popping off.

Hemi, you have to cut one of the truck mounted coupler to get them to run tighter. I run 4" radius in my shadow box layout

    John,
Can you run body-mounted couplers and pull a train behind without pulling cars off the tracks? Granted, my trains will be 40 and 50' cars.

Hemi, I body mount the front couplers and leave the truck mounted couplers alone in the back.

I know I have played around with different combinations. I think the key on something small is that first car coupled to the loco. If that first car is weighted well and has a free swinging truck mounted coupler, you can do some tight curves. However, I have not tried any as tight as you have mentioned.

Hemi, also use a truck mounted coupler car next to the engine. That will help in negotiating tight radius.

No body-mounted cars in my Z fleeet. makes that easy! I rebuilt the mainline to 4" rad, and the F7 still doesn't like it. I think it needs some mnx, too. A bit noisy and jumpy. The Geep loves it! Time to find the GP35-GP39M conversion thread from Robert... I need to finish that unit! Robert, do you have a link for me to check out?
