    What models of FM diesels did the Milwaukee own? I know of the Erie-Builts and some small (H12-44 I think) switchers, but did they ever own anything larger? I seem to remember some road units, but were they Trainmasters of Baby-Trainmasters? Thanks for the help, guys!!

    Did the H16-66's look anything like the H24-66's? Was it the same body with a different engine, or was it a totally different engine? Thanks for the help!

    The H16-66s built before 1954 (ie: MILWs) had the Raymond Loewy style carbody, as opposed to the "spartan" H24 TrainMaster style. According to the photos I am looking at, they are shorter than an H24-66, based on the number and size of carbody louvers and stanchions. They are longer "Baby Trainmaster" looking units. My Milwaukee TechSpec Manual lists the following info:

    Milwaukee Class: 16FRS6
    units: 550-555 new
    (Breakdown): 16 = 1600hp
    F = Fairbanks Morse
    RS = Road Switcher
    6 = 6 axle
    Build Date: 1953
    Weight/as delivered: 297740
    Tractive Effort: 78750
    Powerplants appear to be the same for 1600hp at 850rpm.
