Lots of interesting info from newspaper scans for the 1933 floods in Western Montana, North Idaho, concerning trackage for the NP and Milwaukee and etc. Don't have a link. Search; 1933 Flood on St. Regis River. NP Involvement.
That's when the NP line was washed away, and they had to use the Milwaukee Road to Haugan to reach they're tracks. Be hard pressed to make a decision back then-chase the NP with they're monster steamers to Wallace, or chase a Milw freight to Avery behind boxcabs. Decisions, decisions......
I know there are some nice views, post-washout by Ron Nixon. Thankfully a few folks caught photos of the NP line between St. Regis and Haugan. It's interesting to see the way Saltese appeared, with NP tracks in town.
