Here's a link to Mike Haverty's "End of Year" message. It's a good summary of achievements and plans, for both KCS and KCSM. For example, here's the paragraph that talks of the Victoria to Rosenberg line rehabilitation: Victoria to Rosenberg, TX Line Rehabilitation - In 2007, KCS applied for an approximate $100 million Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing loan from the Federal Railroad Administration to finance the rehabilitation of the line between Victoria and Rosenberg, TX on an existing rail corridor. Rehabilitation of the line will shorten KCS' U.S. route to Mexico by approximately 70 miles and eliminate the need for KCS to operate over nearly 160 miles of UP-controlled track between Rosenberg and Victoria via Flatonia, TX, which is a heavily-used rail corridor. This would allow a mileage reduction in KCS' use of trackage rights over UP between Beaumont and Robstown, TX by over 40 percent. Also in 2007, KCSR began work on the line rehabilitation. In 2008, track and bridge construction will begin on the north end of the line coming out of Rosenberg and working south. Construction completion is expected in late '08 or early '09. Also in '08, KCSR will have a development partner for its proposed intermodal distribution park on land owned by KCSR in Fort Bend County. Russ lives right there, so hopefully he'll be able to update us on construction progress from time to time.
