The Nano LEDs are super small! If you are serious about making something to what I have made here, buy your components from the Electronic Goldmine. Alot cheaper and they have a huge selection of almost anything you are looking for! OK, if anyone has any questions, just ask! Hobo Tim p.s. Please take your time and explore every internal link on the Ngineering website. So much helpful info gathered there! Wealth of Knowledge!
Eee Gow! How am I going to keep up with modeling like this? Excellent work Tim, I can't wait till I have time to do mine! PS: I had several people at the trains show ask about your grain elevator, and from the comments I heard, you can sell another couple dozen in a week!
Here's a "finished" model by Tim. Decal in a couple of days. Needs a little paint touchup. Sorry about the loads, but I'm waiting for Loren to send me an order of turnouts.
1st RTR is finished, Finally! I have finally finished putting the detail touches on the Mi-Jack I have been working on. I don't weather anything I make unless it will be for my own personal use! This Mi-Jack will soon be headed to Switzerland to its new home! I took a few photos with and without the flash. Each has their way of showing the details. You judge! Here they are! The first was taken with no flash. This one was with a flash. Notice the black background is darker! This one was with a flash too! And the last one was without a flash, but I connected a battery to the lighting! Now, I need to concentrate on getting the other RTR Mi-Jacks cast and complete! Hobo Tim
A few questions for Don Don, Just out of curiosity, did you have any problems building your Mi-Jack? I saw where you had the far side reversed. Did you get to fix it yet? Looks good with all the weathering. How well did the Container Frame go together? Have any problem understanding the assembly? Does the Container Frame slide side-to-side easily? I didn't know whether or not I should assemble the Frames. I decided to make the kit a bit hard by not assembling them. Probably the hardest part of all. Look forward to hearing your answers. Hobo Tim Robert, have you recieved your Kit yet?
Tim, the lights on the Mi-Jack looks fantastic! Awesome Job. I think a lot of people want a Mi-Jack too if they see your pictures.
No real problems. The directions are very good On the third sheet where you test assemble the cross beams to the sides, I would increase the font size of "DO NOT GLUE etc.." to a MUCH larger font. I would also add comments a couple of times ESPECIALLY around the instructions of gluing guard rails to use hand/finger protection such as rubber gloves. I do not understand how you do such a good job of getting the guards glued on and properly aligned. They are devilish rascals. I posted my method of painting some dozen messages back in this thread. I'll post a photo of the finished unit in a couple of days, and one taken in the sun as the photos now here really don't look as good as the model actually appears. Regarding the reversed wheel, I just showed the glued areas as to "who was boss" and the pieces came apart. Actually it was probably I used too little glue to begin with, but anyway all is fixed. The assembly slides pretty easily. Just make sure glue is on the bottom side of the tabs ONLY and also make SURE the tabs are square in the cross beams AND tignt against the beams so that you are SURE they are in alignment. I did just a little extra filing and fitting to make sure the tabs fit in just slightly loosly and not ALMOST all the way in. This is a kit and the assembly you have done is already MUCH more than I expected. I think folding the top catwalk must be quite difficult and this makes assembly MUCH easier, especially where the modeler most likely is on a learning curve of one assembly only. In my case where I do a lot of weathering I would not want any more of the kit pre-assembled than you have already done. One thing that would help a little is to leave a slight tab on the Scotch Tape so it can be removed easily from the packing. I had a heck of a time finding the ends and it tears quite easily and is almost transparent, so removal of the brass fender skirts was a little hard so as to not damage the brass. I don't plan to add lights for two reasons - one, I don't do any night time running and don't have lights elsewhere, and secondly after reading your instructions I think I would be getting in over my head. This is an old old man here. Bring on the next kit - I'M AWAITING!!! This one is really nice. ...don
Jurg, we already put in for the same request during chat session. Tim says he will do chassis stacker first. Either way, hurry up Tim.
This is basically finished. I'll take a few macros and use them to do a bit of touchup painting. I'm very happy with Tim's kit. ...don
Looks Good Don! I can hardly wait to see all of the Intermodal Yards in Z scale that start popping up soon. This draw to do intermodal equipment can only do good things for FR's Maxi III's, MTL's Gunderson Husky's, and Alan Curtis' 48' Spine cars & 89' Flat cars (Triple 53/Long Runners). Everyone know what Jurg's and Don's Mi-Jack looks like. Just wait to see what Fred Ladd, Robert Ray, Yo-Jimbo, and Randy Smidt's Mi-Jacks look like. I am waiting on the paint schemes! I do have more of the itsy bitsy roadname decals if they are needed. These guyZ have kits, and the rest will be getting RTR's, but I know they will be personaliZed! Post Photos Here! Hobo Tim!
Itsy Bitsy is an understatement. I'll bet no one knew you could print at only HALF a blob of ink. I always thought the minimum size was at least one full drop spit out by the printer. Tim is doing 1/3 a spit.
Wish List Ok John, this is the Mi-Jack Translift Crane Listing, not the Wishlist/Tradelist! Hah! If you go to Mi-Jack's website and do some surfing there, you will find many different configurations of lifts! Containers, Steel Coils, Concrete spans, and many others. Cool machines! Hobo Tim
