I didn't catch the actual meeting of the two trains(bad angles), but I thought that this was an interesting shot nonetheless, especially considering that this was taken on the old RF&P/now CSX main in Lorton, VA.
Beautiful! I would love to see 4449 in action... Here's more big steam in action. Behind UP 3985, aboard a dome diner--IIRC, Colorado Eagle, somewhere east of MP 600, on the Wyoming racetrack: Careful eyes will note the WP bay window caboose back enroute to the pacific northwest...
Just south of Southampton, a London and a Weymouth bound MU pass each other as a pair of loco's wait to enter Freightliners depot.
SP meets.. East meets West, Mojave Yard Woodford Head end of a eastman clears the tail of a westman at Oak Creek road grade crossing, Mojave. Thom
Thom, I LOVE those old Espee shots! Sure seems like ages ago.. Here's a pair of coal loads meeting at Rollinsville, CO in early morning light:
Mmmmm! Cool Espee stuff! Here's a busy scene from Newport Alexandria Dock Junction, south Wales, on the left 158852 rolls west through the junction with a passenger train for Cardiff, on the right is 66163 with coal loads coming off the dock branch and pulling up to a red light, which is about to clear to green as the 158 clears the junction, it will then cross over to the track that unit was on. 66126 waits in the distance on a set of coal empties that will have to wait for all of those moves before it can enter the dock branch! 66163 gets it's green light and 'feather' (white lights indicating diverging route) And 66126 can finally pull forward onto the branch... In the distance you can see Newport New Tunnel, which features in another thread!!!
Impressive Sequence Martyn, that's an impressive sequence of moves, especially with your accompanying commentary...Thanks:thumbs_up:
PN Intermodal southbound through Liverpool passing 2 suburban services Loaded coal train racing local pass at Hexham too close for comfort!!!
Northbound BNSF rolls over UP 4-track main west of the UP yard, Cheyenne, WY, July 2005. FTR, I was in the left-turn lane, and couldn't go anywhere beause of the EB UP stacker you see here. So.....step out of the van, look back, point up a little bit, and Voila' - an over-under meet!
