All is not lost! Martin Hansen had something to do with that sale and the scrapper may only be grinding up old rolling stock. The railroad, or what's left of it, from McCloud to Shasta City, supposedly is not in danger. The rest of it has already been ripped out and the water tower at Burney has collapsed. Really sad. I had some great times on the McCloud, and have a few photos in my RI albums. :tb-sad:

    To group-

I had read on the McCloud Yahoo group that all of the centerbeams had been moved out of McCloud about 2 weeks ago. I asked if they were moved due to a pending sale. I got a repsonse that was somewhat vague. According to Martin Hansen, the scrapping that is underway now is of excess rolling stock. No further plans to cut up or salvage the rest of the rail is in the works. The passenger equiptment is all for sale. So that rules out ANY hopes of a revival of the dinner train.

I will keep the group posted as I hear more.

Has anyone heard anymore updates on the Mc Cloud other than the 3 dinner train cars being moved to St Maries?
