Hi All, Does anyone have any experience of using JetCal decal-making paper with their inkjet printer. I have had some good results making the actual decals but they do not respond particularly well when I try to give them a coat of varnish.Any advice will be gladly received. I have not tried this, but I have heard there is an aerosol spray made for coating ink jet prints to make them more permanent. I think they called it Jeweler's Lacquer. You are to just lightly fog it on a little at a time until it looks glazed when held at an angle to a light. In school, we used clear shellac to coat decals we made when we used water colors and crayons. It made them water proof so they didn't smear. Some ink jet inks smear when wetted. Try both. You might look in the yellow pager and ask advice from a company who makes decals, also. If all else fails, do what I do, throw a fit! ------------------ Watash
Coincidentally, I have just noticed some decal paper for using with ink-jet printers in an ad. in Model Railroader. It is Micromark. They also have spray for coating decals. You can check them out at www.micromark.com They do on-line ordering and international mailing. I may try them for doing my own road name decals. ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
I am not at home otherwise I would give you the name of the product you must use. You must coat ink jet made decals in order to "freeze" them or else they will smear. Alan has a good idea. I have used micromark before and I like their products. ------------------ When in doubt, empty your magazine. Member #33
