Oh no!!!! He's been to Menards again........ Got a gondola this time Can't help it, I like it! Maybe I need to fill the bottom with real M&M's or M&M Minis to cover up the picture of M&M's Picked up one other car and a few sections of track as well. Pics of that later.
Also on my last trip, I picked up a few sections of track and this car One thing I found about this car that I haven't noticed on other cars so far is that the Skittles logo is actually a sticker applied (and not applied that great) to the car, not printing. Despite that, I do really like the car. Still trying to decide if I really want to do an open load or not but I have the materials.
BNSF FAN, I believe that you're still into N scale like I am, but I too just made some O27 purchases. Harvest season has finally ended and during that time I put in some loooong days, six day a week (but never on Sunday). So I usually reward my self with a new toy and this year it was a Lionel NW2 from 1993 that looked like it was ran maybe a few times if not less! And a postwar flatcar to add to my postwar fleet. My point is probably like you I "scale model" my N scale and try hard to make things realistic, but my O scale Lionel postwar and latter is just plain good fun! Isn't nice to enjoy running things like M&M cars and locomotives that don't have to to be prototypical in every way? I know there are some serious O scalers that take their trains as serious as I do my N scale and I mean no offense to them, but for me it's just a nice break and I know that your enjoying your new additions like I am! Ralph
Who knows. I might actually get to where I can run these cars around a Christmas tree like I was thinking. Dug out the old school Lionel power pack, replaced the wires and cleaned the track connecter and it fit (just barely) the Menard's 3 rail track Still need to dust it off some. I set my Switcher on the track as a quick test and it moved under its own power right way. I still need to clean it up good before really running it but that was a great feeling when it moved under its own power after being a shelf queen for who knows how long!
So what kind of switcher do you have? I also picked up another transformer, a Lionel 1033. I purchased it form an local antique shop. It had a new power cord and it's owner said he tested it and it works. I hope to try it out soon. Ralph
I love going to Menards (usually for tools) and always sneak a quick peek at the O scale stuff. I have Lionel, but haven't bought any loose equipment for it .
Sorry for the slow response. Here is my switcher and for now, my only O scale loco. She obviously needs a little TLC but surprisingly still runs!
Awesome! Just think how hard some work to get their brand new locomotives to look like that! That's the big attraction to the Postwar Lionel for me. These trains are simple to work on and fun to clean and restore. Who would have thought you could purchase trains this old and get them running like almost new again 50-60 or more years later. My first NW2, CNJ 621 was made in 1957. I was born in 1958 and have not held up near as well as it has! Thanks for the photo, it's a great looking locomotive. Ralph
