    Hi all,

I'm looking for an item specifically for a GP50 made by Kato. I purchased one on ebay that was in pretty good condition (or so I thought.) When I opened it up, the front worm gear was missing. I'm looking for someone with a loco of that type that may not run or if someone has that part specifically. I'd be willing to purchase that loco or specific part from them. Kato was out of stock and I can't find them anywhere else on the internet. Please let me know if you have questions or send me a PM if you're able to help.

Here's a link with a good picture of what it looks like: http://www.spookshow.net/loco/katogp50.html

Do you know if there are other Kato locos that part interchanges with? Lowell.

According to Kato's Parts catalog, no. It's similar to a GP38-2 that I have, but just enough difference that it won't work... I'm not overly hopeful in finding anything as these loco's are about 30 years old now. Most are probably in the bottom of a junk box or in a landfill. Lol!

If it wasn't too long ago that you purchased this loco, I would recommend getting in touch with the seller to get this straightened out.

Take a look at eBay listing #372746938598. It is a Kato worm gear w/dimensions, but it does not list applications. Lowell.

They just told me to ship it back. If I can keep it, and just replace the worm gear, it would be just fine.

I've been collecting the older BN GP loco's since I'm a cheapskate and don't want to spend $70+ on a loco and have been fixing them up if possible. If not, this might just be a dummy loco for the collection.

I TRIED TO TAKE A SHELL OFF OF ONE LAST YEAR. I DESTROYED THE SHELL. I BELIEVE I STILL HAVE THE WHOLE CHASSIS. I'LL LOOK LATER.
