So I had an idea of mounting a couple of diesel headlights or ditch lights on the wall in my train room, maybe dimly lighted with low voltage. Anybody know where I could acquire these, they seem to be imposable to find.

Or am I just out of luck.

Not sure if low voltage would do it. I think those things run around 75 volts. I'll look tonight.

    Cool idea though.

I like this idea aswell and I don't want to burst your bubble, but I have a Ditch light that was removed from a BN C30 and It is NOT for sale Ever. But I did aquire it from a train collectable swap meet. Got it from a former BN Engineer. I'd look at shows like that, you never know~ as for the voltage, I wouldn't know, I have it on display. I don't really use it.

If you find some ditch lights, please let me know I'd be curious as to where and how much you paid for it.

You can quite probably just change the bulbs for different volts units (and lower power as well), though it might mean modifying/changing the bulb holder as well.

Alternatively it wouldn't be hard to fit a suitable transformer between the mains and the lights.

And if the lights aren't readily available, buy a pair of auto fog/spotlights and built a box that looks like a ditchlight round them. Done well I doubt anyone could say they were not 'real' - how many people get within 3 foot of the genuine article to have a good look? (and survive :) )

Not only are the bulbs 75 volt, they also run hot on dim. On bright, they can cause 2nd degree burns if touched. Not sure if I'd want to mount one on a wall...
