As I work through my parent's estate, I've chosen to sell my father's LGB trains. I have no space for them and would rather see them bring enjoyment to another home. My Dad set these up around the Christmas tree for several years, so they have very little run time and none of the items has been outdoors. They've been packed away for over 15 years now. The locomotive runs, but not smoothly. I don't know if the smoke generator works.

I've done an exhaustive study of actual selling prices of these items on eBay and then calculated the average of their mean and median prices to eliminate extremes. Using this method, the likely total selling price for the lot is $1,600. My asking price is $1,400 with Cashier's Check or PayPal. Because of the size of the collection, terms would be local pickup only in the Asheville, NC or Columbia, SC areas. I might consider parceling out separate pieces, but the same local pickup request would apply. I sincerely apologize, but I don't have the available time to pack and ship, and COVID has made a mess of transportation these days.

I tried to contact LGB clubs in the Carolinas, but found that a number don't answer their website e-mail. If you know of anyone living in the region who might be interested in the trains, please let me know. The collection incudes:

As I put my posting together, I thought of you and wished you were closer. If it were summertime I could entice you to visit SC’s lovely beaches. ⛱

I’d have a good reason anyway! My oldest niece moved to
Myrtle Beach, SC in the last 2 weeks, with a friend and her family.
Decided it was time to do something!

Not going anywhere. Unfortunately. With China virus situation, finding
dialysis locations every other day is not possible! Could send train stuff
like Johnny Cash built his car: One piece at a time??

Ahh, not knowing the situation, I thought perhaps you might visit your Niece. Good idea, Stay Home Be Safe.

My wife is a diabetic so we are playing it very safe. We've now been in lockdown for 4 weeks and are now preparing for Stay At Home Order takes effect Thursday. So work from home, all construction except essential cancelled, schools closed again all until Feb 11, 4 more weeks. All in-store shopping except grocery stores and pharmacies is cancelled, order ahead, curbside pickup only. We're just short of an 8 PM curfew right now. Let's hope it gets better before we reach that point.

    Be Safe, Take Care.

:) SC is in a good spot geographically and tourism is huge. Some time ago I sold a very nice and very fragile boat model on eBay that required it to be picked up. A nice fellow bought it and picked it up as he was returning to New England from Florida.

Blood clot and pulmonary embolism, as well as resulting problems from that!
Massive Staph infection that ravaged me 3-4 years ago. Followed by what turned
out to be a bone infection in left foot. Lost 2 toes there! And Type 2 diabetic.
As well as ESRD - End Stage Renal Disease -or Kidney failure. Not total though!
But bad enough to require dialysis 4 1/2 hours a day 3X a week.

I’ve got enough issues, without the China virus adding to the problems!

Oh well, I do the best I can, given what I’ve got!!

You might want to check into this. Shipping oversized items isn't cheap, but it isn't difficult either. That looks like about a 30 minute packing job. I just buy moving boxes at Home Depot (the normal size costs 47 cents last I checked) for large items and cut them down to a glove-fit size. Just a suggestion....
