I know that some SD39s and early SD40s had the brake wheel on the back porchbut it was at the rear end of the hood and not on the porch... Must be some Canadian thing.

Yes, the ones I have seen on the back porch were all at the rear hood... maybe it was an SD45 or other variant that received a "transplant" long hood, thus leaving the brakewheel out on the rear porch

I was just thinking it would probably make an interesting modeling project to do some rebuilt leased power. Considering the units often have numerous non-standard variations...

 

I saw one of those BN units a few weeks ago.
