I'm Nels hogberg I've been in and out of model trains radio control plastic models all sorts of hobbies for the last 50 years I recently got back in to trains with N scale and also with on30 Hawthorne Village trains for my wife and her Christmas Village this last Christmas. I've been messing with the Arduino and have put together the Arduino DCC plus plus basestation controller with jmri but have yet to successfully make a train move LOL anyway I love building, working with the scenery, detailing etc. Looking forward to learning new things from Ya'll.
    Regards
    Nels

I can get the loco to twitch in reverse when writing commands. I upped the volts to 19. Still nothing on the main track with either DCC plus plus controller or jmri. Still hacking away at it.

Well going through all of everyone's issues I decided perhaps I should clean the track and the locomotive. I'm working on some Bachmann On30's i got at a garage sale from the Hawthorne Village collection. Its for my wifes Christmas Village, that's how this whole thing got started. Lol. So pulled apart the Loco clean the contacts, drivers, clean the track and also went ahead and soldered up the digitrax decoder as opposed to just having the wires all pinched and twisted off
. still no luck yet but did have an exciting moment when I wrote from jmri the 28th step speed table and the LED lights began Flashing ( I replaced the incandescents) and the Loco started jumping forward, with each CV write. so it's reading it just hadn't got it to move on its own fruition yet. Still not real confident in the velleman board may go ahead and get the Arduino R3 motor board.

    Later,
    Hogberg

Well Hot Dang! Around 1:30am today, something I have dreamed about for almost 50 years, came true. I dony know if it was switching to the mega or the tip i read on one of the forums about holding your finger on the Loco while programming to make sure the signals communicate back and forth but the Saint Hog, Spinnaker sheet, and Anchor rode Railway finally has DCC++, heck yeah! My final config was signal main 12-to Direction A7 and Signal program 2 to Direction B13. And yes it feels as good as what I always imagined LOL. Later,
    Hogberg
