Kato's new GE P42 was reviewed in the latest issue of Model Railroader. Uh, Wow! They hit the bull's eye with this one. To be honest, at first glance of the picture, I thought the model was in HO scale. The article describes the mold work as "superb", I think you could say that about the entire unit. What I like most is how they did the undercarriage detail. The motor is mounted high in the chassis so you don't have the non prototypical "bulge" with details molded on it to hide the motor. Although I don't model modern day railroads, I may have to get one of these.
