Has any one heard anything about the new RDCs coming out from Kato. I think it will be phase I [IMG] I have no direct proof but the prototype shot they used is a phase I.

    Thanks for the info,

    Dane N.

Sorry about this ignorant question, but what is the difference?

    Thanks

Oh, c'mon, who's gonna know the difference? [IMG]

Seriously, did BC Rail have some Ph2s that you planned on using?

    Thanks for the info Corey.

I am really looking forward to these RDC's. The main reason is that sometimes you don't want to put on a whoooooole passenger train so you could just throw on one of these sets on and away it would go. Small, yet prototypical!

    Can't wait!!

    BTW, when are these due?

    Are there 'phases' of RDC's? I'm not talking RDC-1, 2, or 3.
Besides, the phase 'descriptions' of locomotives is a Extra 2200 South creation not something the manufacturers use, from what I believe.

    Phase II

    -bigger windows
    -stronger motors
-different headlight config (that is how I tell the difference, it is actually very noticeable. Compare a Con Cor RDC in N with an Athearn in HO. Big differnece)

Phase I obviosly has the opposite of the above. I beleive any cars with a cerial of 5000 or over are Phase II (NOTE: I am going on old memory).

    Happy Railroading,

    Thanks, Dane.

Personally, I would not take anything Con-Cor (actually Roco cars?) has/had created as proof of prototype fidelity. [IMG]

Here is a message I got from some guy at Kato.

    Hello Dane,

Thank you for your interest in Kato USA's products. I can't tell you what phase of the Rail Diesel Car we will be producing, but it is under development.

    Thank you,

    Ben something or other.

    Happy Railroading.

Man, are they hot or what? I must admit disappointment in them not doing the well-known Daylight schemed U50, or even the Verandah Turbine for that matter. It would have gone so well with my Bachmann Daylight GP40's - all 17 of them!
