    Next Kato Passenger

I would like to see a complete Rock Island Rocket consist. Diesels, baggage, etc. And circa early 1950's. As a 9 year old visiting my grandparents in Enid, Oklahoma, I got hooked on the Rocket as it came through town.

Why should Kato produce European cars that didn't even run in Europe?

Rock Island: BLI will do this engine.

    I said :
"I am pretty shure KATO is already doing something very close to these cars for the European market ."

The key word there is : something very close , for KATO it's good enough they did worst than that before !

The pacman FP9 is available from IM , their F units are very good , nothing like their tunnel motor ...

The Via Rail Renaissance cars were originally built for the Eurostar sleeper service, which was cancelled before it even started. So how much tweaking would Kato need to do to their Eurostar coach to get close to a Renaissance car?

Why have Kato released 4 P42s in Via Rail if they have no plans to ever give them something to pull?

OK,Guys, They will be doing the UP's City of Los Angeles Domeliner.(Correct consist) As I have gathered all the correct brass n plastic car sides w/core kits to do a correct 1955/56 consist. But,they won't release it until I am either finished or nearly finished with it. About six months from now.

    Enjoy!

Why is BLI releasing E7's, E8's and PA's while there is hardly anything decent to pull?

I don't model N but did IMR's tunnel motors not turn out very good?

Mine is nothing short of OK. Runs fine if a little noisier than most everything else, just doesn't pull as well. Detail is good but the bloody thing fall apart just looking at it. When I get a "2-It, Round" I need to contact IMR for a new set of handrails.

They've aready done it. I have a set and it is very well done.
Orient Express `88 (Basic 7-Car Set) (Model Train) Kato 10-561 Passenger Car N Scale
Orient Express `88 (Add-on 6 Cars Set) (Model Train) Kato 10-562 Passenger Car N Scale
The set includes the two extra cars added when the train was running in Japan in 1988.

I know I'm being greedy, already having the Super Chief and El Cap, but how about a Santa Fe train that includes the full length dome, eg; the San Francisco Chief. A typical 1954 consist was

    1. Baggage
    2. Coach
    3. Coach
    4. Coach
    5. Lunch counter diner
    6. Big Dome Bar lounge dormitory
    7. Diner
    8. 24-duplex roomette sleeper Indian-series
    9. 10-roomette, 6-double bedroom sleeper Blue-series
    10. 10-roomette, 6-double bedroom sleeper Pine-series
    11. 4-double bedroom, 4-compartment, 2-drawing room sleeper Regal-series
or they could do a 1960's version after Hi-level coaches were added.

I think any new train, whatever it is will have correct tooling, the CZ, Super Chief, Daylight, Broadway and El Cap demonstrate that they no longer think close enough is good enough for the U.S. market.

I have one as well. Runs and pulls nice, but I've known some eggshells that are much more sturdier than that loco body!

That just means Kato will make a much smoother-running F59PHI! :)

If they do a Milwaukee Road train I will laugh out loud.

I have been working on an Olympian Hiawatha. I am not done with it, yet, but I figure that SOMEONE will announce an Olympian Hiawatha about the time I am 90% done with my own train.

How about this - a Shasta Daylight? They could recycle the PAs, and I don't think the tooling would be too difficult. The car windows are, I think, the biggest difference between a proper Shasta Daylight and the Morning Daylight.

I could also use some heavyweight cars for all of these "lesser" trains like the Milwaukee Columbian or the Olympian.

They did an F40PH after Model Power and Life Like had already done them.

If they do the shasta they better do the 3/4 dome that goes with it. Plus the whole train is smoothside, and IM is doing the train but Kato's would blow it way. A Cascade would be nice to the had some ex-daylight chair cars in their consist.

The old model power and life-like F40PH were junk compared to Kato and they already made the superliners so it seemed natural. A phase II stripe F40PH would of been nice though to go with the phase II stripe superliners. Even a phase IV F40PH would be nice.

My guess is the 20th Century followed by the Evening Daylight. The Crescent and the Orange Blossom would be interesting too.

Is there anybody besides me who wants a modern executive train?

There are at least four good ones.

    UP with E9s.
    BN with F9s
CSX with F40PH or F7A/B (it should be F3A late phase, but Kato probably wouldn't care)
    NS F units (F9s?)

So Kato could make something reasonably close to all of these as far as the locos go. It is only a matter of the passenger cars. I would scrape together the money for a CSX executive train. I'd even sell some trains if I had to. I think I'd faint if Kato announced a CSX executive set....

    well, you get the idea.
