Farther to the left, I did some additional work on the pad for all the tanks and stuff for the chemical distribution site and some additional ground cover in this area.

and a little gravel on each side of the access road

I am seeing that the best course going forward at this point is to work from the back to the front on this area instead of random-ish spots. That means I have to get to work building a truck/railcar loading platform that will fit between the siding and the backdrop. So, here is the start.

I did go back and clean up the mess I made with scenery material. It looks better but still a long way to go.

One other addition to the train room over the weekend was this apple cinnamon sent candle. Has me craving an apple pie. :)

Diesel exhaust, coal dust and brake shoe smoke. That would be my kind of candle. Just another day on the Moffat!

Well, here is a little overdue layout update from the weekend. got a few things moved forward.

I started out by making a mess. I drilled this hole so I could wire up a light for the guard shack / ship receive office. Some where along the weekend, I did install the light but no pic
    20201107_133833.jpg

I then spent a little time working on the new rail car / tank truck loading platform. Here are a couple of progress shots
    20201107_133847.jpg
    20201107_180351.jpg

At that point, it became time for a test fit.

Still need to add some piping and paint this section. Next I will paint and add some safety rails. Then will add some hoses and any additional piping plus build a flat roof, paint that, install and done. Maybe a few more weekends or so.

Looks like your loading platform is open for business despite being under construction. Great job!!!

My next task was to create a guard gate. It doesn't show up super great in this pic but there. It is made from a cover off the end of an HDMI cable. I cut two thin strips of styrene for the gate arms, applied some red and white stripes, and instant guard gate.

    20201108_135501.jpg

I also planted a few trees. near the highway bridge.

Then applied a little ground cover to touch up some spots.

I also put a few things on the walls.

A pair of display cases for some of my engines.
    20201108_135617A.JPG

Then in the hallway entrance, a painting on the right and a cool collage on the left. Sort of dressed up the entrance.

I'm guessing this coming weekend, I'll get some engines unpacked and back on the display shelfs. and continue on with more of the same. :) Thanks for checking in and have a great rest of the week. :)

I like your truck gate at the tank transfer facility. Very resourceful! Nice decor on the walls, too!

Thanks Joe. I know it looks different but I was inspired to try and build this by watching you build the one for your layout! May have to dub it the JL loading platform when done. :D

Thank you sir! Those HDMI and USB plastic end covers are turning out to have a lot more potential than I originally thought.

Would like to put up a little more wall décor but not sure just how much the wife is willing to approve.

The 4 that I have actually came from Khol's (the wife bought them for me) but you can find the same type at places like Hobby Lobby, Michaels and such. They are actually display cases for golf balls. The loose looking strips of black poster board you see floating around in the is there to cover the big dimples on each shelf so the locomotives will sit flat.

Indeed they do but my fingers were found to be sufficiently large enough that I was having trouble getting the equipment on the rais in that tight space.:D

Funny but that's how most of my putting with actual golf balls goes as well.
