Has anyone seen this? No matter how many times I write the Loco Address it always comes back with the decoder address set to 16383 for long and 127 for the short. I reset the decoder CV8 to 8 and it says it writes the value 8 but the same address 16383 keeps coming back.

What brand decoder? Are you power cycling it after the reset? (remove from track for a few seconds) You might have to look up the decoder model on the vendor website to see if there are any special reset CVs.

What brand decoder, what brand command station? Is this universal, or can you run known good locos with known good decoders? Using just a command station or Decoder Pro?

have you changed anything recently on the layout or programming track?

16383 is a “special “ number: it is the value of all the usable address bits in CV17&18 set to 1. That normally happens, on a read back, if the command station isn’t getting a clean response back, but does see that it is getting a response.

It is a LokSound Micro. I discovered that the actual address was a Decoder Advanced Consist. The address was set to 127, once I discovered that it made sense. All is working as advertised. By the way, it was the Rapido N Turbo I purchased. Amazing model.

Thanks your suggestions helped me work that out!
