Which size of the white CSX containers will fit in my Kato Gunderson MAXI-IV Double Stack Car 3 Unit Set? Are they 53' that comes with them? I'm looking at the white ones cause I like them, although expensive for a pair? Unless someone makes a set like Kato does for a good price, but White containers? Thanks!
The MAXI-IV hold 53' foot containers. I am 99.9% sure the 53' Jax containers will drop right into the wells. And I would assume that the Jax can stack on top of the Kato containers. Why I say that is my "experiment" with Jax 53' with my Kato MAXI-I which are 40' containers. I have a pair of Jax 53' which they gave everyone at Winterfest in Amherst one year. Just yesterday I stacked the 53' on the 40' and the pins matched perfectly. The magnetic system worked well too. Obviously with the wells being 40' you can't put a 40' on top of a 53'. Now one oddity that I encountered is that if you stack a Kato 40' on top of a Jax 53' the pins don't quite align. But the other way, perfect! Go figure! But a few of my intermodal train buddies say that in real life you would never see a 40' on top of a 53' but you'll see plenty of 53' on top of 40'. From this I would then think that a Jax 40' would work with Kato 40' and I plan on buying some to try out and have variety. I'm going to guess the same holds true for the 53 footers (interoperability between Jax and Kato). Can you find someone who has Jax 53 footers and bring a MAXI-IV to try? Or bring it to a train show where there are intermodal dealers or runners.
