Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a fun and safe 4th of July long weekend. Let's see how we all did.

Saturday: Was a busy day. We cleaned up the yard and and my fellow N scale buddy Steve came over to help me set up for that night's festivities. By 4:00, the yard was filling up with friends and family as we celebrated our Independence. Lots of tasty treats on the grill, cold beverages of every type, good music and the night was capped off with a fireworks show that according to our crowd, topped last year. A nice day!

Sunday: We got a late start, but by noon, Angela, our dogs and my brother along with his pup in their truck, made the start for NH. A long 20 hour trip, but very little traffic and the pups did a great job travelling. We were treated to fireworks in three states as well.

Monday: We arrived in NH at 8:30am and my Dad prepared a nice breakfast for us. We settled in, got some rest then started getting settled in. Big changes for both of us for the next few months as we transition. Fortunately, both Ang and I are blessed with a job that allows us to work remotely so that is one obstacle we don't have to face.

In reading the thread on Friday, it seamed to have a theme of pick up trucks. Let me add to that theme. I have inherited my Grandfathers old pick up, a 1987 Ford F-150 XLT with very little rust and only about 30K miles. She was garage kept so my list of things to do are mainly normal. Replace the brake lines, new brakes, new tires and I will need to replace the floor boards in order to pass NH inspection. At 34 years old, she is considered an antique in NH but she will still be pressed into service as a truck and snowmobile hauler!

So how about you? What did you get done this past weekend? Did you get a chance to celebrate with family and friends? Let us know. We're back on track and will get together again on Friday the 9th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, stay safe, be healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Glad you all had a safe trip east Jim.

    Love the F's Wolf (y)(y)

Got all I set out to do done this weekend. Finished up the panels on an autorack upgrade, painted the rest of the roof top detail parts I had assembled, and planted a bunch of trees on the layout. Good weekend overall.

    Hello all,

Fairly quiet 4th around here, my wife made gumbo for dinner on Sunday.

In the train room I was able to finish installation of DCC decoders in a Kato SD45 and an Atlas GP40. I had hoped to also do a U25B but realized I did not have the already milled frame I thought I had so did not get done. Over the past few weeks I have done 7 installs. Think next I want to add to the signaling on the layout, we'll see.

I got the salt elevator painted, weathered, and mostly positioned for my Surly Salt warehouse. I still need to open the tracks ups and slid this under, then build the bins and piping, but it gives a good representation of its where and how for now.

Friday got a depressed center flatcar painted along with an under frame.

Saturday went to the club and had a good time with fellow club members and had my SP SD45’s get some running time with a mixed freight. In the evening I started decaling a PC&F RBL and a chemical tank car.

Sunday continued with the decaling and also started on the depressed center flat decals.

Monday I completed the decals on the RBL and depressed center flat and added the frame stripes on a C424. Got out a Intermountain 5283 cf boxcar kit to assemble and am still deciding what covered hopper to build next.

I did not finish any projects. Just a little of this, a bit more of that type of projects. One item ready to paint; another made a couple of parts from styrene; moved another off the workbench, pending some necessary parts I forgot to order. And then I just relaxed Monday. Sorted some collected ferryboat images and filed those to external storages.... :)

Was busy with projects around the house. Some those projects were trimming the weeping cherry tree, weeding the front garden, and cleaning the front yard fountain. Went to Target to get some bins. Filled one up with the leftover supplies from the Upper Darby Pride Festival. My son will need them for next year.

I changed couplers on some Walthers Ready to Run passenger cars such as Amtrak Phase 1 coach and diner, and B&O slumbercoach. On an older Athearn Blue Box Amtrak coach I had to drill and screw on the coupler covers as the clips were broken off. I discovered that two recent acquisitions, an SCL lounge, and a Penn Central Sleeper had already been converted to Kadees. The last cars, a Penn Central Baggage and an Amtrak Phase 3 Baggage-Lounge came with metal Proto Max couplers so no need to change them.

I know just how you feel! You should have a parade or something. (y) Looks like what I am going to need on my module. Well done.

So far, as of a little while ago, internal bracing was added. More to come. Second floor section was installed. The roof section was cut out and textured. Will go on soon. The back was already made and is ready to go. Next part will exterior treatment. (Didn't that sound real "Martha Stewart"?) The above projects look super! Glad folks had fun and visited. Sunday I did something I haven't done for a long time (no not that:rolleyes:). I heard about six trains rolling through town and I decided to chase the last one I heard. (Late afternoon.) I followed it to Irondale where it pulled down to Gates City in order to clear a turnout. Then it backed up and tied up for the night. All have a great week! :D

Happy short work week! Didn’t get all done I wanted. However, I still managed to
    1. Put down track to the new Albemare City extension plus get the electrical feeders dropped in.
    2. Pulled out a couple of cars from the project cabinet and push them along. One is an old Tichy boomcar I built in the late 80’s and it has been sitting needing repairs for about 15 years.

Moved my recently graduated kid to a new apartment and were blessed with excellent weather the entire day.

The next day was hot and humid, so I didn't get much done on my benchwork beyond milling some triangle-shaped inserts as stiffeners for the inside of some of the table legs. Heat drove me inside; didn't get them mounted.

Built all of this peninsula benchwork in three hours Saturday morning. Upper level will be built with T-style method through the vertical 1x4’s with cross bracing as needed.

Benchwork isn’t sexy, but the trains can’t run without it! (Also, I got lucky and had two old sections of benchwork fit perfectly in vertical position. You’ll never see it behind the backdrop!)

Staging benchwork is officially complete. Continued the layout and installation of the subroadbed from staging to the first level. The plywood was previously cut for a 36” radius helix, but it will be a long time before we get to that point, why not use what is already available?

Technically, the first level begins as the track comes out of the center wall of the peninsula. Since this is being viewed from behind, this will be hidden below the first level and will come out in the open on the other side of the peninsula wall.

Monday morning wrapped up with lower staging track work completed and a false backdrop installed to hide the staging track that will be behind the stone arch bridge on the lower main level.

I don’t expect to accomplish much this week, but Landon and I may venture to Charleston Thursday evening for an operating session.

Honestly, lately it's been a struggle. I went through a divorce and lost my mother a few months ago, been withdrawn socially and mentally. Fortunately my new girlfriend is supportive of the hobby and she pushed me to build something again.
