Thanks for all the cool pictures guys! Here are a couple more for you: BNSF 331 in Saginaw, TX: BNSF 3965 from the cab as we rolled through Amarillo:
Nice one Chessie!!! Those are some of my all-time favorties. Do you have any other shots of those? What are they exactly? I like the DB bulge on the end. definately got the "model this one" gears turning in my head. Has anyone else modelled these in n scale?
Yeah, I probably have a few in my vast collection of photographs (a shoebox). I don't think I have many digitals, but I'll check. The N&W made these units to to mate with their GP40's. They still ply the rails, mostly north of here. I remember seeing an article about kitbashing one of these in a magazine, but I think it was HO. Harold
Found it: Norfolk Southern GP40 #1372 & RP-E4D Slug #9730 - Part 1 Model Railroading, July/August 2000 page 32 ( DIESEL, EMD, GP40, KITBASH, "LESTER, ANDY", NS, SLUG, SUPERDETAIL, CONSTRUCTION, ENGINE, LOCOMOTIVE, PROTOTYPE, MRG ) Norfolk Southern GP40 #1372 & RP-E4D Slug #9730 - Part 2 Model Railroading, August/September 2000 page 50 ( DIESEL, EMD, GP40, "LESTER, ANDY", NS, SUPERDETAIL, ENGINE, LOCOMOTIVE, PROTOTYPE, MRG ) Harold
I guess in N scale you could do what the prototype did: start with a GP7/9! Might be good foddder for topics in the N scale and/or N&W forums. Harold
A bit late, but saw this on April 15, while hunting down the Schnabel train the same day. Mixed in among several other locomotives, including a NS unit in Primer gray!! Doing some switching along Santa Fe Drive.
