Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend. Let's see what we got accomplished.

Saturday: As planned, the day was filled with all things wedding but I managed to get the bulk of the Athearn corner module done. The wedding was nice and seams hard to believe the step daughter is all grown up now.

Sunday: The day started out with Angela and I meeting Angela's dad, grand mother, her son Jared and Jared's new girlfriend at breakfast. We had a nice visit and we seemingly did not scare away Jared's new girlfriend. After breakfast, dad and grandma came over for a short visit and we enjoyed each others company. They left around 3:00pm and I started on the modules. I won't go into detail here, you can see the progress in my Granite State HO progress thread. Using the same method as the NTrak standard to mount the legs worked well and will allow me to take the HO modules on the road and to train shows. At home the legs are not needed. 15.jpg
By 6:30pm I was at this point. Next weekend I hope to get more done such as the corner module as well as its legs, foam and fascia. We'll see.

So how about you? What did you get done this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday the 21st to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

    Good morning all,

Had another full weekend here and did get some hobby stuff done. The module leg set project continued with painting. Because there are 6 pieces to this set with quite a few different angles, the 2 coats of enamel has been taking a bit of time. By Sunday afternoon I had 4 of the 6 finished with the other 2 almost there. Received some black paint pens on Saturday and will be marking these on the inside to help with assembly.

Worked on a pair of decoder installations and also got paint, some dry brush weathering and flat coat on the foot bridge.

Didn’t get as much done as I planned. After the division meeting Saturday it became a lazy day.

Sunday I did pull out the switches for the modules and started prepping. One frame still needed some mud to fill in the cracks. So now I can start the track plan transfer this week. I also was able to build 8 more legs that I will be needing.

Friday: As previously noted, had a nice run with Natasha (our German Shepherd) in the morning. But homework took much longer than I'dhoped. Still, it was do e on Fridayand not Sundayor Monday. I didn't do much else other than look at my tote full of cars awaiting cooupler conversion and pick two likely candidates. Naturally, both will need significant work to get them where I want them to be.

Saturday: I got out to to the Sebring Model Railroad Club in the morning for our work day, some new trackage was installed to reconnect the power plant to the new port facility and the "water" part of the port was reinstalled for the upcoming November open house. Our church annual meeting (Charge Conference), went well. I spent a little time working on couplers conversions, and took Natasha and Frodo for a walk (without my wife), but no other projects got done.

Sunday was Laity Sunday, so it was one of those rare occasions when I got to sit with my wife at church. Then lunch, and a couple hours at the train club, did some bookkeeping, and watched several folks qualifying trains that they will run during open house. Came home and continued work on one of my conversions. This *was* a dumping coal car, but the moving parts are removed and it will become a coal gondola (that is properly weighted). This is nearly done. Photos probably ne t week. Then stayed up too late watching Lord of the Rings with my wife.

Below is a photo of the new track and the section of benchwork where the "water" will be reinstalled.

Friday was about to start decalling a covered hopper when I realized I did not paint the under frame and hopper bottoms black so a quick mask job and I painted it and a couple of other under frames black. Started decalling a boxcar before going bowling which was not good at times we all had a bad night.

Saturday worked on doing the brackets and jackpots for a bowling tournament and later worked on decalling the boxcar and covered hopper.

Sunday did the laundry and in between loads I applied the panel sides to two bay hopper car. Then I finished the decals on the boxcar and covered hopper along with adding decals to a U25b.

Greetings. Weekend went well. Basically did 2 things.
    • Took some Rapido freight cars I've received over the last 6 weeks (various back-order stuff that just showed up), got them out and checked wheels and coupler heights, also put on some of the parts that come with them like brake rigging, etc. Got them ready for weathering, etc next time I have an air-brush session.
    • Also spent time Saturday and Sunday starting to prep the "Jackson River" river bed. Scenery here is kind of tedious in thinking about feathering out the banks for epoxy resin pour, painting the bed the right color, etc. My first real water scene. Also spent quite a bit of time watching videos on river making in model railroading. I've definitely decided on using the Environtex-Lite kit. Seems to do the best job based on the overall reviews, videos, and pictures I've seen. I'll probably order some this week. I want to finish the scenery down low near the water and get it totally fixed before pouring. That way when I do scenery up on the ridges, the water will totally hardened and I won't have to worry so much about debris messing it up. Plus I can cover it w/ loose paper, plastic, or whatever. This scene I figure is about 40% done. Lots to do still.
    Have a great week all!!

Cool woodworking! (y) More cool woodworking! Nice pedestrian bridge too. (y) Nice benchwork. (y)Cool bridge! All coming along. I did not get much done due to a trip up country to a town street festival and car show and then smaller country craft and music venue. Sunday did become a lazy day due to "nappage". This A.M. was car service and grocery stop. (y) By end of last week, I did obtain usable fifty-ton hopper laser-cut side components. Happy to do so. ;) All have a great week. :D

Didn’t quite finish either F40 project. I can’t find my clear scrap styrene for the windows on Metra 211 (the CBQ heritage unit) and can’t do lights until I do that first. I ran out of steam before finishing the Amtrak NPCU number boards and switched to something simpler-light weathering and prototypical graffiti (when I can find the right photo) on my new Intermountain autoracks. They all got a coat of gloss. But I ran out of Dullcote so now powder yet.

Oh well. Try again next week.

Clad I made no plans! Had to work extra hours, and came down with a bit of the sniffles. Sneezing a bunch, just like Spring hay fever. So just rested between shifts.

Over the weekend we got the rest of the outside decorations up and did some gardening.

I went through the flat cars and separated them into groups and placed them in bins accordingly. I checked the coil cars for coupler height, wheels, and weight. I switched out couplers on several Athearn and Roundhouse RTR cars.
