Welcome back everyone and to our Canadian friends to the north, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all had a great and safe weekend. It looks like many of you had some big plans for the weekend so let's see how we all did.

Saturday: As planned, I went to our fall FreeMo meet and was instantly impressed with years set up. There seemed to be more modules that featured some type of prototype operations and I saw more younger modeler's than I have seen in a long time. That always makes me feel good. I counted at least seven modelers from the University of Illinois Model Railroad club in attendance and actively pursuing operations. I had the modelers there operate a few Athearn Genesis GP40-2s as well as the new release of GE Dash-944CWs that are due to arrive in mid-October. I stayed most of the afternoon talking with most of the modelers and had a great time. I'm now looking forward to the spring meet. Later, Ang and I went for dinner at one of our favorite dining spots in celebration for her new career then came home to relax.

Sunday: I started the day by working on organizing the workshop. I too am trying to downsize and eliminate clutter. Once the temps got above 50, I set out to the workshop and got to work on the modules. I had to take one trip to the big box stores to get some hardware and Ang bought some Halloween decorations. Once home I helped Ang with her Halloween lights and set up all the electrical so it's all automatic then worked into the night trying to get the bulk of the two main modules done.

No matter how I upload these, they turn out on their side. Oh well you get the idea. Next weekend I hope to get the corner module done as well as mount the legs and maybe get into the foam board. We'll see.

So how about you? What did you get done? Let us know. We'll return again on Friday the 14th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Good morning all. Weekend went well and did mostly what I thought. Got the plate girder bridge floor cut and built the girders to match. Then yesterday I went in the layout room, ran trains and spent quite a bit of time prepping the base of the river that is in the center of the layout. Got the sculptamold down as later as it started to set up, I dampened it and smoothed out some.

    Have a great week all!!

Didn’t get as much as I wanted done.

Saturday I was able to get the foam glued down on the last two N scale module frames. I still have an HOn3 set I need to do and then another N scale set to assemble. I trimmed the foam on the first two and started attaching the fascia board.

Sunday I wasn’t able to get back to the modules. I had a zoom meeting to help one of our guys in the NMRA division get an AP passed off.

I’m hoping today (Monday) I will be able to finish the fascia boards on all four N module frames and start work on the next one.

Finished up this HOn30 hopper, for my industry "Discovery Bay Coal & Gravel". Did a few other odds and ends.

    Good morning all,

Sounds like we had bench work projects going on this weekend, same here. After testing the new module legs I was not happy with the sturdiness of them in the higher configuration. So after some experimenting around I found a way to add the needed strength without doing a full rebuild. After a re-test I was satisfied with the result.

Legs shown here in the higher position with the 40+ pound Hot Springs Junction Ntrak module on it. In this configuration the mountain division track is at 51" and is used as part of the AsiaNrail layout.

And the same leg set packed up in it storage configuration.

By Sunday afternoon I had a coat of primer on everything. Friday we did get the salmon smoked and Sunday the wife made 3 pizzas. Weather turning cooler here now so enjoying while we can before winter comes.

As expected, doing this week's homework consumed most of my weekend. Something like 150 pages of reading and 10 to 15 pages of papers submitted describing what I learned from the reading. This afternoon, I'll have class via Zoom to discuss the subject of the readings.

Alaina's Eagle Court of Honor went well. She is the first female Eagle scout from our troop which is almost 100 years old and had produced over 120 Eagles. Three of our scouts wanted so much to support their fellow scout, they left homecoming, changed into their uniforms, participated in the Court of Honor, and then put their suits back on and went back to the Homecoming dance. At least one of those young men brought their date with them as well. They were, undoubtedly, the best dressed people in the room.

With all the homework, running simply did not happen. Of course the low temperatures outside, at 40 degrees F, made my decision easier, but neither did I want to spend the time doing that when I had so much writing to do.

Church went well, then a couple hours at the Sebring Model Railroad Club where I did get to run my 1970's era Baby Ruth car (from my first train set) around the layout a few times and verified that it runs nicely and "plays nice with others." Then I went home, wrote and turned in the last of my four papers, had dinner at Red Lobster for the shared birthday of our daughter and her mother-in-law, ate too much, and am paying the price today. But, we forge ahead anyway.

I hate to eat too much... I wound up doing an extra chore this weekend. I still continue to "chew" my way into using the laser. I must get back to the small house project. I have ideas about using the laser. :cautious: I will focus. (y) Have a great week. :D

Had a pretty good weekend. Saturday, I worked. After I got home the wife, and I went and got our COVID boosters and flu shots. We then went to PetSmart for Guinea Pig and cat food, and FedEx to drop off a package for my wife. We thought about running to the nursery to get some mums and then dinner, but the traffic took a turn for the worst. It went from nothing to bad rush hour in no time at all. We decided to head home and call out for delivery.

Sunday, we got my car washed and then headed to the nursery to get some mums. I also grabbed a bag of tulips bulbs that I will plant when I take out the marigolds and inpatients in the front garden. Then a quick jaunt to across the state line to Delaware for gas and a stop at Target. Once back at home and after a bowl of my daughter’s cheesy bacon potato soup I put up about 80% of the outside decorations. I still have a couple of bushes to put lights on and put out the blow-up dragon.

For the weekend I finished building three NYO&W Train Miniature of Illinois hoppers, changed out the couplers on three Bachmann poultry transport cars, and two Bowser PRR stock cars. On a B&O MOW tank car Athearn blue box kit I added the brake wheel, placards, metal wheels, and screws to hold in the Kadee couplers.

    Hello to Y'all --

    Not much to report on.
The SD-7's are painted. Ready for a gloss coat - for decaling.
That will have to wait for a couple of weeks.
As next week we will be camping.

    Y'all have a great week,
    Wolf

Friday, I managed to get one side done on a covered hopper and when I started on a boxcar the decal tore, I managed to save it but I went over the decal with another coat of decal film to let it dry for a day before trying again. Bowling was okay but could have done better the team managed 4 out of 7 points.

Saturday, finished decaling the covered hopper and one side of the boxcar and did not have any problems with the decals except for one huge one but I managed to get it on. Went to the club where I picked up my Tangent G41 coil gons. Also worked on a Branchline 50’ boxcar kit.

Sunday, did the laundry and went to choir practice also did the second side of the boxcar, still had a problem with the huge decal shredding but I got it on. Also finished up the boxcar but found the paint I wanted to use had gone bad, will have to wait to paint it.

A friend and I will be hooking up our modules later this month which means I have to get to work. I started by making some throttle pocket holders that will hang from the fascia. This way the throttles don't tower over the models when slotted or show up in photos. Seems silly, but it always bothered me. Next I rebuilt my mobile command station. I wanted easy access for everything and a place to stow the wires. So there is a four inch space behind the backing in the photo that allows me to easily reach in to make changes. I left room for two more PSX units which are on the way. We will have three isolated areas to protect from erant operators and a fourth for expansion and to use on my home layout when I build it. I'll add a throttle pocket inside the right side for charging the 6 series throttles once I get the other PSX units in. I can set the 9 volt charger up and set it on top of the unit. There are holes in the shelf behind the DCS210 so the cooling fan on top can push hot air out the bottom.

Long weekend-was able to finish some autoracks I started a few months ago. The first few are Concors with Plano panels-heavily weathered to hide some imperfections. The newer Red Caboose and Intermountains I have will be less weathered (like the KCS when I finish it) when I get around to them. I still went a bit heavy on the PW perhaps.

+I just finished assembling my Walthers Hardwood Furniture Company building. It was a pain to assemble... what with my fat fingers and bad close-up eyesight.

    Hmm... and Kiz DIDN'T
drop it on the way to
    put it on the shelf...
