Well we are back to the daily grind, time to let everyone know what you got accomplished this past weekend. Saturday: Set up from the previous day was okay, we ended up moving the City Job once to make room for the NTrak modules. As predicted, I spent a large amount of time repairing the track I ripped out in transport the previous Wednesday. I was able to repair it, but still had a huge chunk of rail a scale foot higher that the adjoining track. I had a slow order on that section all weekend. Other than that, the set up went relatively smoothly and by 4:00, Bill and his son William were at the show setting up the Santa Fe portion of the layout. By 6:00 we were done and headed to our favorite Taco place. Saturday was cool and rainy so the crowd was great at the show. We had a record number of tables at the show and there was plenty to see. Saturday night, we all got to see a new club layout being built and then enjoyed some good BBQ. Sunday: Bill, William and I got up early and got ready so we could go to the depot and see what they had for display. To our surprise, there was no GE this year but an EMD and a three window SD60M to boot! This would have been from the first order BN placed and was originally painted in the white face scheme. Now the unit wears the familiar orange and black. What was interesting was that it was painted in the standard cab or switcher scheme, not the "Premium Heritage" that most wide cabs are painted. Hmmm. Once at the show, we ran 1977 and had a good time switching cars in and out. We had a lot of good comments from the locals and even a few who had actually operated the City Job in the 1960's. Before we knew it, it was time to take it all down and pack our vehicles. We then stopped at out favorite ice cream place for a cool treat before heading to the bridge over the yard to get one last view of Galesburg. Soon, time was reminding of us of non train related timelines and we said our goodbyes on the bridge. Hopefully we'll get to do it again next year. So how about you? Saturday: - Attended my friends operating session - it has been a long time since I have attended an organized session. Man what fun it was. Their were 7 of us, Working an N scale layout. After getting home, I primed the baggage, RPO and coffee shop/lounge for my Lark. Sunday: Was a lazy day -- I painted the frames for the above cars(black) and painted the baggage and RPO their first color - light gray. The coffee shop got it's orange stripe. I also removed the skirts from the articulated coach set. Getting ready to drill the holes for the grabs. Hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf

Great stuff everyone looks like you got some things done. I Got a couple things finished been working on for too long. First is a D&RGW GP30 #3011. Pretty much a stock P2K with just a few added details, and weathered with washes and chalks for a friend. This is a PRM early run brass D&RGW caboose. If you have one of these you know the under-frame detail is, well, less than what I wanted. Just so happens with minimal modifications, the under-frame from a DRGW 01400 Protowest scale models resin kit fits right up under the body. The Protowest under-frame has about every little part you could think of under there. Atlas trucks, with a yellowstone truck mounted generator, Reboxx wheels,Scalecoat paint, Microscale decals, the lights are LED's and some weathering finishes this one up for now. Boy thos warm light LED's sure show bright with the aperture setting, wow. Thanks for stopping by.
We had a great time at Galesburg Railroad Days 2018. It was fun to have our layout set up just five miles north of it's prototype. One BNSF engineer even recognized the layout as "G.I." (Galesburg Industrial). I took it as a compliment. There was a lot of model train items for sale at the show, especially N scale. Kato had a display there as well as the CB&Q and Great Northern historical societies. There were several scales represented in layouts including O and N. Here is a view of our layout: Another view down the length of the layout: This trio of high cube cars represents cars that were assigned to the nearby Admiral plant in Galesburg. The ones with the white door stripe wete assigned to Galesburg. The other car was assigned to Marion Ohio. Both towns had appliance plants. From the roof of Illinois Power & Light, a view of the "mainline" of the City Job. New transformers are loaded for delivery after being transferred from flatcar. The second day, we ran circa 1977 in honor of the first RR Days. Hence, the red of CB&Q was gone, as were the ATSF pinstripes. In the words of Scotty "It's green." ...or yellow
