Overall a great weekend. Spent most of it in the shop doing N scale numberboards. In the end, I got three out of the five locomotives done for nscalerone (aka Jim).

here is Conrail GP40-2 former Reading unit in front of Conrail RS3, former CNJ.

Another former Reading unit, Conrail GP35 #3631. Sorry these pictures are so lousy, I have zero good sunlight in this workshop.

Finally Conrail RS3 #5381 a former Central of New Jersey locomotive. I had fun fading this one like the photograph. I used alcohol to fade the red paint and some other tricks to fade the Coast Guard band. Caboose red was applied as patches after the loco was weathered.

I finished the number boards on the C420, just need to spray one more patch on it, decal it and its done. Former EL GP40-2 just needs number boards done. Hopefully I can get these out to Jim this week sometime.

No progress on the layout, most of my time I wanted to devote to the locomotives above, plus domestic chores had to be done. Sunday night I relaxed by watching the New England Patriots beat the NY Jets 37 to 16. That made the weekend!

So how about you? What kind of progress was made, or what shows did you attend? Post a response and we'll do it all over again on Friday 18th.

I spent the weekend assembling and painting a Thomas Industries HO scale metal tank car kit. I bought that at a hobby show the previous weekend. I still have to add couplers, so next time I visit the LHS, some #146 Kadees are on my shopping list.

Interesting to know that I have something that's about 50 years old on the low end of the scale.

This weekend was junk. I concentrated on the scrap yard. While we were in "power down" mode a couple of weeks back, I built about 3 feet of wood plank fence from coffee stirrers, since I needed no power to do that, just a knife and some glue. I made up some decals for old Moxie and Sunoco signs for the fence, and got it stained and weathered. When I glued it in place, it bounded the whole scrap yard and made the rest more obvious. I've still got some work to do, because I started the junk cars late in the day and they weren't ready for the Instant Rust and weathering powders yet.

Not exactly a model, but still a useful thing for my layout...

LocoIO Completed! by BGTwinDad, on Flickr

The LocoIO gives you 16 inputs and/or outputs connected to and controllable from LocoNet... comes as a bare PCB and a bag of parts. Took about an hour to assemble. I need to do some final cleanup and test before I pop in the microprocessor "brain". This little guy is going to allow me to control lighting and other scenic effects from my computer.

About the only major thing for me this weekend was ripping out a defective turnout and replacing it with a new one then anchoring and ballasting the new track.

Other than that I body mounted Kadee coupler boxes on some Tyco and Mantua cars.

I'm still working on my IIm turnouts, seven in all. Set it up like an assembly line and go!

Saturday afternoon I finished wiring signal contols on my four T-trak modules. Sunday was the show at Poughkeepsie NY. The signals worked well and received a lot of interest, especially from the children who ran from signal to signal to watch them change. I also ran trains on my clubs HO modular layout at the show.

It has been busy. On Friday we attended a NCAA Division 3 Volleyball Tournament match. We saw Juniata College defeat Cabrini College. In the evening we watched a couple more matches on video feed. Saturday we cleaned up the front yard and began putting some outdoor stuff away for the winter. Later we did the biweekly restocking of the cupboards. Yesterday my daughter attended two volleyball club try-outs. We were on the way home from one and got a call for an offer to play for the Regional team. We are still waiting to hear from the other club.

Last night we watched the video feed of Juniata College (ranked No 8) and Eastern University (ranked No 4) battle for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship and trip to the Elite 8. The match lived up to the hype. Eastern won 3-1. Eastern won the fourth set 36-34. They also came back from in the final set from a 17-24 deficient to win 26-24.

Still no work on the trains. I did, however, clear out some of the junk that had accumulated around the layout. I can now move around the layout without tripping or banging into something. Next step is the stuff on the layout. It is all train related stuff but it is not in its proper places.
