Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good week and are ready to get some model railroading done. Let's get started.

Saturday: With a half day on Friday and the Mustang getting prepped for winter storage, I'll have more access to my garage now. It is supposed to be nice this weekend so I'm in hopes to finish some projects that have sat since last spring. I need to finish the legs for the HO switching layout I built last fall as it is no longer mounted on the wall in my office. One leg is done and the three that are left are in various stages of construction. I hope Santa brings me more clamps this year. Once finished, I want to sand, stain and poly 'em and get that project done. I also need to fabricate a table for the other small HO switching layout I built for shows. We also need to make another trip to our local goodwill as we continue to downsize.

Sunday: I need to install a set of stairs from the deck to the garage and Sunday looks like the day to do it. Hopefully I can find everything I need today while the Mustang gets her oil changed. A bit of landscaping will be required too so lets hope the loss of Daylight Savings Time doesn't ruin my progress.

So how about you? What do have planned for the weekend? Let us know. Also, have you ever wanted to go back in time? I dream about going back to 1964 all the time. Well for most of us we can, but it is only for an hour. Yup, it's time again. So to avoid any cornfield meets on the layout, remember to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night. Have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Much as I want to, I find that making firm plans and writing them down just leads to disappointment these days. Some passel of my kids will be at karate tomorrow AM, and since grass cutting season is winding down I may get some free time tomorrow. the Peter Andersen Fest is this weekend in Ocean Springs, and since its outdoors we will probably walk amongst the vendors for a few hours.

Things will depend on how we feel after getting the covid boosters. I got mine on Wednesday and my wife gets hers on Saturday. The only side effect I have is the extreme fatigue which I had with the previous doses. We do have the Halloween decorations to take down which should be easy.

In the basement I have to move everything back. We had a new handrailing installed on the basement stairs. Everything that was alongside the stairs is now up against the workbench. I need to finish inspect cars form the last run by session. Also I should work on placing the roadbed.

Well, tonight is bowling but I may find some time this afternoon to finish up a Red Caboose R70-15 Reefer kit.

Saturday, club day in the morning, and I may get the reefer finished and painted later in the day, hoping to get my missing part for the 86' High Cube so I can start construction.

Sunday, Have to help administer at a youth bowling tournament in the morning, then laundry and maybe some construction and decaling work in the evening.

    Have a nice weekend!

Depending on the temperature outside, I hope to do some woodworking and make a start in building a nice little shelf to hold my DCC throttle, plus a small floor shelf to consume lumber left over from the train table build. The shelf will be an interesting project. Instead of first determining a size, its size will instead be determined by the dimensions of the lumber I have left. :)

My weekend starts about 2 this afternoon when I get to take off and experience the fun of driving across Atlanta on a Friday afternoon to take my son to his Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow induction weekend campout. Oh, to add to that fun, the Braves world series parade will be going on causing an extended route around. Saturday may see some free time for a visit to the layout. Not even sure where to start. Maybe just run some trains and see what mood hits me. Sunday will be going back across town to pick up my son and then probably the normal weekend errands and stuff mixed in with all that.
Hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the extra hour!

Work on during the down times.

Looking forward to attending the South Bay Historical Railroad Society open house. I have not been to anything for 2 years. They have a sale area and I plan to stop at the ATM on the way in case I see something I need. Other than that, I plan to continue working on turnouts and possibly start laying some track.

    Greetings all.

Saturday I have several things on my plate. The Neuse River Valley train show is this weekend. I'll go tomorrow. Also, with Christmas coming, I want to accelerate some scenery efforts since we are having a couple of get-togethers w/ family and friends over the holidays.

Sunday I need to replace a flapper valve on one of our toilets. Will also hit some more scenery.

Scenery is the theme between now and Christmas.

Seems like you will NEED a mental break after that. Maybe a frosty beverage and mental break. Good luck

Already finished the module I started last weekend. I have a F&C HOn30 gondola in need of a little TLC and paint touch up. Then there is that darned box car I keep not painting... Afterward, a tossup whether I start yet another module kit, or work on an F&C HOn30 tank car kit. Come Monday I will know what I did! Ha ha ha............

We're all busy as chipmunks here. :) Today is "Fun with discharge chutes day". Earlier I spent about an hour and a half with no noise of any kind and just dug into covered hopper discharge chute design. I rubbed my head and thought and then thought and rubbed my head. I finally got a handle on it (the design, not my head). So this puts me with one covered hopper out of four that has end frame stanchions and brake wheel with platform . More to be done. Have fun. Watch the clocks. Be safe.

Since I'm planning online that seems appropriate.
At the moment I am alone so when I finish this I will continue with the Eastern end of the layout and move toward the South Eastern end.
I may skip ahead and 'mock up' 'box in place' the mountains and bridges across the 5' blank wall. Long term intentions are to put :
Two or maybe three 5' high mountain peaks
    * Bullet Train / Shinkasins - Arched bridges, (12 inches from the base), between them
    * Mian Line - A trestle bridge, (4" over the base)
    * Valley line -Not sure

Mostly though, I have to clean it up to make it presentable for videos tu upload to my channel.

This weekend is the Central New York Train fair, at the New York State fairgrounds in Syracuse. It has always been one of the largest shows in the Northeast, although it is probably 50% smaller than it was just 10 years ago. I expect there will be near record crowds due to it being postponed last year by Covid restrictions. I need to attend to ignite the spark that will get me back in the layout room. In fairness, there has been too much other activity (we haven't been home in two weeks), and the fall weather has been great--the leaves here are just now reaching peak, almost three weeks later than normal. And of course they also are beginning to fall, which will no doubt compete for the spare time to work on the layout this weekend for sure.

As one other person has mentioned take down the Halloween lights. It's not much really, just some pathway lights and just a few string in the bushes. Train wise actually wire for the DCC after testing, and to my surprise, it actually works. Add terminal joiners to several locations, locate the terminal black under the layout, make the connections, and pray :) I will test with DC again to make sure I have not screwed something up. Adjust cork roadbed and track for better alignment. And already starting to add structures for mock-up locations, to determine where roads, structures, possible scenery, will go etc...

I also had a burst of energy today, and cut the grass, hopefully for the last time till next Spring :)

And mainly sleep an extra hour with the time falling back :) Enjoy the extra hour everyone in the USA!

Not sure what I will get into this weekend. There are a bunch of turnouts that need built for the classification yard. I’ve built 7 turnouts and two scale tracks in the past two weeks, so I think I want to slow that down a little before I burn myself out on that.

I’m out of rail joiners and the new shipment won’t arrive until next week. I’ll probably work on some freight car projects this weekend.

    1) Continue trying to convince my wife to let me add a ~9’ shelf layout above my current small layout.

    2) weather some covered hoppers that want to use as buffer cars and/or weather some boxcars.

Got some time on the Makerspace laser cutter this week which helped with progress on the Mikado drivers. I have more time reserved Saturday and hope to make the final parts I need to move forward. Totally jealous of you folks who have your own at home. I made the calculations needed for attempt #2 cutting an arc for sand dome #1. This weekend will be the actual setup and cutting, I hope. There are also soccer games to watch. Weather just bad enough to put off the lawn mowing for a few days..

    Stay safe,
