Welcome back to that gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good week and are ready to do some model railroading!

Saturday: Normally by now, I would be in Galesburg IL for Galesburg RR Days. I was just getting over the illness that had sent me to the hospital when I got a call from home. Unfortunately another family incident took place on Wednesday and Ang and I are making other arrangements. As a result, there may not be a RR Days for me this year, or future years.

Sunday: I don't know where I will be at this point. As I have said many times before, life comes at you fast. Change is inevitable.

So what about you? I hope you all get a normal schedule and enjoy some railroading of some kind this weekend. We'll come back on Monday the 28th to talk about it. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Jim, so sorry to read this. Stay strong . Prayers for you and your family.

Saturday: I have to repair a shelf that had fallen in our pantry. Shouldn't take to long -- famous last words.
I hope to work a bit on my next F7 project (SP DF-4 class A-B-B-A)
Then off to our friend's place for a bit of grilling and visiting.

Sunday: Hope to finish the F7's

    Y'all have a great weekend!!

Jim, take care and be back stronger, prayers to you and your family.

This weekend hope to get some decaling done along with building an IMRC PS 5277CF Boxcar kit along with painting a PC&F Boxcar and C-424.

Will also be going to the club for a little train running and great conversation.

    See you all later!

Sorry to hear of more issues Jim. You and the family will be in our prayers.

Saturday - Week 2 of 4 helping with my son's Eagle Scout project. That will probably fill the better part of the day and then have to fit in the usual errands and stuff.

Sunday - Hope to finish up the roof top details for the grain elevator. If the mode hits me, I may start on upgrading another ConCor autorack. Picked up a set of the Plano etched metal panels. I have done several using JnJ panels but this will be the first shot using the Plano ones.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

You've been in my prayers Jim. Godspeed for health and normalcy for you and your family.

Hoping to progress on building my train table legs. Repair of the botched dadoes on five leg pieces went really well and the tapered leg profiling is complete on all but one leg. (They're 4" at the top and taper to 3" at the bottom.) The twine is there on the top two pieces because they will form an inside corner, unlike the others which are for outside corners. None of these have been assembled yet. The flat board will join two tables on the rear of the layout. It'll be tapered too, and not being a corner leg, I need to modify my homebrew tapering jig.

Continue assembly of a tug boat kit. Perhaps finish a box car, now that I finally have the part I wanted... Maybe put together another module kit. And plod onward with scanning slides.

    The best to you Jim!

This weekend more building work. Like many of you, I have many, many things that can use some work here and there. I’ll probably also work on some minor tasks that have been ignored.

We’ll find out Monday AM what got done. Have a great weekend all.

Along with the other folks here, I am hoping for a good outcome for Mr. Wiggin. I hate to see a comrade dealing with serious problems. The hotel project looks like it is ready for wall assembly at this point. There has been some interference here with bright sunshine, no clouds and cool breezes. Who knew? I have also been trying to tinker some with other related projects but am mostly in the planning stages. All have fun. Be safe and well. :D

Been there, done that. After my Dad passed back in '07, I decided to scan the family slide collection...

    All 5300+ of them...

Hope to finish this project, repainting an Athearn Blue Box EMD switcher (it's been waiting for this for some years) from UP 1850 to GTW 7017:

A trip to the art supply store is in order. A few years ago, I found that applying the frame stripe is much easier with paint, specifically a paint marker.
They're also great for drawing road lane markers, handrails, even oil stains in parking spaces. For white paint, tire highlighter markers do fine, too.

Way easier than messing around with long, narrow decals that inevitably break apart into 73 pieces when attempting to transfer them from the backing paper to the engine...:censored:

When I was researching my best avenue for scanning slides, one website advised that if you decide to scan your slides upon retirement, you'll soon realize you retired too late. My count was like yours and I'm still finding odd slides lost here and there.

Jim prayers for you and your family. I hope everything works out.

This weekend is completely up in the air. My son is one of the organizer of our township's first Pride Festival on Sunday. I know at some point this weekend I will be driving a U-Haul carrying tables and chairs.

If any modeling can happen it will most likely be changing out couplers on passenger cars.

Wishing you good luck and better days ahead Jim.

Short weekend in front of me. Record breaking heat forecast for this region the next three days. So what are we going to do? Hop in the car and go somewhere hotter. Most of my time Saturday and Sunday will be spent in preparation.

During the week I turned Rev B of UP 2295's boiler. Next up is the stack and stack base, as time allows. These are more complicated shapes, especially the base, so I am trying to develop some new skills. Failing that I may resort to spending money on more tools. It's a no lose situation!

I will let you know Monday how things turn out.

    Stay safe,

My weekend starts tomorrow. I hope to get something done this weekend.

I have the module to work on. I need to get the resin poured. I ant this thing finished in three weeks.

I have started to build a project box to hold a Digitrax UR91 and UR92 for show setups. Still in design phase for the stand. Hope to get something figured out so I can start building.

It took me three months . I bought a new scanner for that purpose, though it is multipurpose (Canon 8800) and about the size of a Buick . I could scan six slides at a time. I needed to be patient, but the result was good enough for me - about the same resolution as my Pentax DSLR.

The Pentax is useful here again, showing the progress of the frame stripe (I bought a couple of paint markers this morning):

    IMGP4143A.JPG

In natural light, the color of the frame stripe is pretty close to the decal color. With the flash, it washes out to nearly white.

I'll need to redo this one with the other color (kind of a light Dijon mustard color - the young lady assisting me at the art supply store giggled at that description :)).

While paint dries, hands are not idle! I'm also redoing the lighting. The constant lighting circuit was a "dead bug" assembly held in place with a balled-up piece of cellophane stuffed in the cab... It'll be LED directional lighting when I'm done with it.
