Happy Good Friday and welcome back everyone to the Gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a great week, and you are ready to get back to it. By the looks of this past Monday's thread, there was a lot of progress made. I would typically be track side today as I have had a tradition called "Good Friday, Great Railfanning", a tradition I started some 20 years ago when previous employers were closed in observance of the day. This year however, weather, gas prices and work commitments have kept me home, so I hope to spend a Friday trackside in a few weeks. Let's get started on our weekend.

Saturday: It won't be warm but not cold either, at 53 degrees, I plan to finish up the construction phase of the NTrak module. I have the fascia to finish as well as the backdrop then I want to finish sanding the entire module and legs and apply stain. I hope to apply poly and paint next weekend and will soon start laying track. I need to do some yard work as well.

EASTER Sunday: We plan to have a short Easter Egg hunt for the grandchild in the morning. My contribution to the little one was finding a small dump truck for her sandbox. I was impressed to find that not only is the toy made in the USA, but from recycled plastic milk jugs. I couldn't pass it up and I'm sure she will enjoy it. After that we will head north to celebrate the special day with her dad and grandmother. After that, who knows, but I'm sure I'll find something to get into.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 18th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    HAPPY EASTER!
    &
    High Greens!

We'll, this being the end of holy week and the Easter weekend, I'm not planning to get much done. I was at church all day yesterday with an hour at a local funeral home for calling hours and home just long enough to change clothes and eat a couple slices of bologna.

Today, Friday, is my "day off" so I'm writing a frighteningly large check (though not as large as we feared) and mailing our taxes. This evening, I'll go in to my office for an hour or two before leaving for another church where I will lead the Good Friday service. Saturday, will be similar, but back at our church for the Easter Vigil service at 8:00 pm, then Easter sunrise, a continental breakfast, Easter Sunday celebration, then lunch at our daughter's house, and *then* were heading to Tennessee for a week at a dude ranch, with camp cooking, and horseback riding.

I might squeeze in some stuff in between church, packing, and other vacation preparations, but I'm not counting on it.

Happy Easter all. I hope all have a peaceful and great weekend.

This weekend I have to get out of the workshop and get back to the layout. The plan is to work on the river gorge scene. I'll endeavor to put up some before/after shots on Monday.

Between modeling and Easter weekend celebrations, mass, etc., I still hope to get some good modeling time in.

Good morning, for the first time in weeks, no bowling, the season is over and all I have to do is collect our winnings on Tuesday. But will be bowling in and working at the Seniors Tournament on May 11 and 12th. Hope to get some modeling in today working on the NYC Lot 955B car that I showed a picture of in Weekend Photo Fun.

Saturday, our club's monthly administrative meeting followed by and op session. In the evening hope to paint a FGE RBL in PC colors to be ready for decaling next week. May also paint a couple of ore jimmies and a covered hopper underframe.

Sunday is laundry day and we have no plans for Easter, we will figure it out later. Just continue work on any and all projects that come up.

    Good morning all,

A friend from the Ntrak club will be visiting on Saturday with a 6 ft x 30 inch module he acquired that needs some work done on the wiring. So today I am going to set aside the layout section I have been working on and clean up the train room a bit so we will have room to bring his module in. He is driving in from some distance away so we will try to get everything done in one day and I have set Saturday aside for this.

We have had some strong winds and the return of winter like weather over the past week. So now I have got some clean up to do in the yard and weather permitting I'll be tackling that on Sunday.

Wishing you all a happy Easter weekend.

First of all, youse guys up North, please, please stop with the Winter. Second, a lot going on here. Thirdly, I took a detour from the hoppers to reinstall "improved" reporting marks and ladders to the M&StL boxcar. Again, the new pic is "warts and all". I have also begun improvising a better end frame building method for the hoppers. We shall see.

    This is before the upgrade.

    M&StL_II_TRAINBOARD.JPG
    And after the upgrade.
Still, I am not 100% satisfied. I never am. (Look at the crud on the gon.)

I hope everyone has a great and fun Easter. (y)

Wow. Friday, already? Where did the week go???

I plan to continue decal work, and maybe complete that HOn30 gondola I started last weekend. If I am full of energy, (ha ha ha- yeah, right), I might start assembling my new N scale mini-t-Trak empire modules. If only I could find a local shop with tons of ambition on sale, cheap! Ha ha ha..........

With this being Easter weekend not much will get done around the house. We planted all the plants that needed to be planted during the past week. We have some last minute running to pick up things for Easter dinner.

I have entered the time where I need to evaluate what is next for the layout. I have cleaned it off so I can look over it better. I have the hot dog stand to weather and figure out where it goes. I have a fruit stand to build. There is always electrical to do. There is more ballasting. I could tune up some cars or weather some. Decisions, decisions...

    Cheating here, again.

Mid-week and Unaccomplished Previous Weekend Updates: Got a chance to go the nearest electronics retailer I know. About ninety minutes away in a direction I rarely travel. Luckily my wife had a reason to go that way so I took advantage of the opportunity. There I found a replacement for this:
    old rectifier.jpg

Note the "black box" only has three legs. It originally had four. It is a bridge rectifier in an old Dremel. Fortunately the code on the front is cross-referenced to existing components and the shop stocks them. With replacement in hand, along with a bunch of other "electronic" stuff, I was able to put this back together:
    repaired Dremel.jpg

My first Dremel. I bought it as a teenager sometime around 1970. It helped build slot cars, repair a variety of things and generally made my life better since then. Finally died last year. More sentimental than practical, but I am really happy to have it back. Probably won't see much use with the battery models being more convenient for me.

That was the last of three rotary tools I needed to repair/replace a few months ago. Which brings me to this weekend.

All weekend: It is time for final revisions of the spoked-to-disc driver conversion project. I have been working on this for months off and on. Several detours and delays. Tool repairs, new skill development, family obligations. I should have something to show by Monday. Wish me luck.

    Stay safe,

Moose's plans? Well, this may have to be updated as the weekend progresses...

Friday: Train a new Train Inspector trainee. See below.
Saturday: Go to the emergency room to treat multiple cuts. See below.
Sunday: Wonder where Moose went wrong and completely lost control of both the home and the railroad... See below.

The MT&P RR has been without a train inspector for a few years now -- ever since Terry the Train Inspector had to take disability retirement.
    :(
Mrs Moose -- against the wishes of both Mr Moose and Terry the Retiree -- insisted on a replacement.
    o_O
She, the replacement, not Mrs Moose, is a cat with no name, no home and no job. However, if she successfully completes the training program, then she will receive a permanent home, the position as MT&P Train Inspector and ... ... ... a name!
    :)

Like everyone else, modeling is going to take a backseat this weekend. But with any luck I’ll make some progress on the well cars and containers I started last weekend. I intended to chip away at finishing weathering over the week, but it was a very long week at work. Right now decals are done, paint is faded, and an initial layer of rust and grime was airbrushed. But I need to add some paint and powder to finish them.

My weekend will be spent recuperating from surgery Friday. Then Saturday morning is the NMRA division meeting and the. Saturday night it’s back to work.

I have started some scratch build cars. I am doing a civil war train in HO. The first kit has been assembled and stained. I hope to have it built by Monday. All parts are basswood. Using an old Athearn blue box to hold everything. I have three more kits to build.

Continue working on installing the Just Plug lights on Base B. And replace some on base A. I actually drilled the locations for them early this morning like 2:00 am and hooked them up in a possible still mock up locations, but all are working now and I can once again run trains since the wiring is now underneath the layout as opposed to above it when I was doing the first mock up's. It's looks really cool so far, and I will post photo's in the Weekend Modeling Photo area at some point.

Maybe add some fake water with Blue paint I bought as well as cover some foam with Brown of Black paint for eventual rock facing, brush, trees, maybe? I also recently cut in the 2" foam and installed bridges in those 2 locations. One is a Truss and one a Girder, me thinks :) Also thinking about getting one of those NCE Illuminator boards for controlling some lights with my NCE PowerCab? Not sure when or if though?

Nothing doing with the trains this weekend. Most will be put towards the electric bike, my main transportation besides city buss.
I'm not religious but do wish all that celebrate this time the best. Especially the little ones chasing bunnies.

Running a fever - not covid related - instead of running a train. Anti-biotics should take care of it.
Will be watching train videos and maybe record sounds of freight trains on the phone a couple to use with my phone / blue tooth speakers.
Step-daughter is staying longer so I may get her to paint more fingures.

Enjoy your weekend every one. ☻
