Is it just me, or do spring/summer weeks go faster? Long weekend because of Memorial Day. Regardless, it's time for Weekend Modeling Plans!

Work has progressed on my B&M layout with roadbed for NH route 4 almost done. It is going to be a busy weekend with my oldest graduating High School this weekend. She has her ceremony on Saturday then Sunday the youngest has a Soccer game, then Monday we have a Graduation party. I'm sure I'm not the only one this weekend. In between all of this, I plan to work on the layout as time permits (usually at night and early morning). I have two T-Trak modules that need sprucing up for Galesburg RR Days coming up a month from now as well.

So how about you? Any shows? Will you get time to work on stuff in between the cook outs, graduation parties, Honey Do lists? Tell us your plans and what you want to try and get done. We'll get back together on Tuesday, May 29th and compare notes.

One more thing. For us Americans who are here and abroad, remember this weekend is more than just cook outs and graduation festivities. Remember our Vets, the Men and Women who made it so we can enjoy these freedoms. Freedom isn't free, thank our service men and women.

    Happy Memorial Weekend!

I'm planning on finishing my rolling mill this weekend. I have all walls assembled and glued to the floor, ready for the roof and ventilation system. I also weathered the interior, so the exterior will be next.

I really need to get level 1 finished, but attending the NMRA Mid-Central Region Convention in Pittsburgh last month got me too excited about getting my rolling mill together.

My plan is to finish the re-wire of my yard area. I converted to DCC a few years ago by just plugging the DCC unit in place of the main walkaround throttle. I started to rewire the yard section (double ended, 6 tracks) a couple of weeks ago with a new 14-gauge bus and more feeders. I am old school - wiring under the layout is soldered. The tip on my big soldering gun broke last weekend and I had no more spares. I am now ready to go back to work on it.

I was also running out of solder. Solder price has almost doubled since I last bought it, it seems!

Wow, 3 days off. The company I work for long ago restructured our holidays, eliminating most of them and giving us the week between Christmas and New Years instead. So, this is my first 3-day weekend of the year. My wife gets her birthday present tomorrow, a week or so early. She's getting an iPad. So, she'll have a new toy to play with all weekend, and....

That should give me time to do some of that trackwork I've been putting off. That dang cough is almost gone, and my daughter has gone to Cape Cod with her boyfriend, so I should have time and the trainroom to myself. After fitting the cobblestone sheets for the street-running track in Mooseport, I found I had derailments where things had worked OK before. The problem area is behind some buildings, so I'll need to pull them out to see what's happening. That will give me a chance to fill in the gaps where the buildings overhang a slope, too.

I want to start assembling the car float apron, but I've got 3 other structures for Mooseport in various stages of construction, so I hope I can discipline myself to get those done and clear the workbench for the apron and the float itself.

3 days. Wow. I hope we get a chance to have some friends over and maybe grill some burgers. Mankind has celebrated the beginning of summer since pagan times, and I think that's something we all need to do, too. But, I think tomorrow's shopping trip should include a new flag to replace the beat-up one that's been hanging off the garage on this weekend for so many years.

Well, after class on friday morning,( network systems admin). I will heading to mansfield,Tx to work on a freinds layout. Plan on bulletproofing staging along with the installation of the helix. Last time I was there I was able to cut all of the material needed and start the process of installation.

Since today is friday I have my red shirt on to support the troops, and I plan on thanking all of the vets I know, that will be a bunch since I spent seven years in.

I have over 100 Intermountain boxcar, reefer, and tank car kits I'm working on, step by step. It would be a successful weekend if I can finish just the 16 boxcars.

    Hmm... for someone without
    a layout, Kiz sure went
    crazy buying kits lately...

That's for sure! Those kits took a lot of time. Ambitious!

My H0 club layout is closed for two weeks or so for maintenance. No fun runs, no ops, only modeling. I have to do modeling on Saturday. This afternoon I am going to the mall to see the modular (H0) layout guys. They definitely have a lot of fun. It is sort of an NTrak type with a lot of mall visitors around. They certainly have some good modeling, too. Here is David Babb's golf pitching course. (Or what ever you call those things where you just practice.)

Selecting a train to run. These guys run 60-80 car trains. Pretty neat!

And, of course, I will operate my own layout on Sunday.

My plans are modest. I am expecting my new BLI AC6000 to arrive (hopefully today). If that happens, I will be testing it out(ie playing the engine). I may replace the couplers on my F7 A-B units with a bar to keep them permanently coupled. I also have a decoder that I can install in my SD40 Tunnel Motor. This weekend I will just take it easy and see what happens.
