Some of us have waited all winter and spring for this, that's right it's finally here! The "Unofficial" Start to Summer!

Summer always has been and always will be my favorite time of year and this weekend is the kick off for many. Ironically, for the first time ever, I have a heater running in the shop as this has been a rather cold start to the season. The retail establishment even let us have Monday off which is a welcome surprise. So without further ado, lets get this started!

Fresh back from my trip to Ohio, my main focus now will be working on the Galesburg City Job modules. My friend up north has most of the track down on his sister modules and has caught up to me. My goal is to get the 2-inch foam glued down on module 1, install the grade crossing detector and finally install the front and rear fascia. I really need to start picking up more Tam Valley turn outs for module two so I can get the foam down on that module and install the rest of the industrial track. Saturday is my best chance in getting most of this done as well as stop at my not so local hobby shop and pick up paint and supplies. Sunday is a graduation party so not much will take place then. Monday of course is Memorial Day and depending on the weather, this maybe a family together day. All the painting is done on the two Mystery GP38's. The fire engine red sure looks good with the white stripe and green diamonds (that's an easy hint!) Decals are done on one side, maybe the other side will get done during the course of the weekend. I need to button these up as I'm already a week behind and need to shift efforts to the Galesburg Modules as we have just a month now.

Now for my annual rant on this Holiday. As much as we all enjoy the Holiday weekend, the "Unofficial" start to Summer, the BBQ's, picnics and ball games all would not be possible had it not been for the sacrifices of many a service man or women. Despite what the automobile dealers and furniture stores (my personal pet peeve) tell you, Memorial Day is a day we must remember the ultimate sacrifices of those that answered the call. So with that, I give you a wish to a happy long weekend. Remember, we'll assemble next week to see how we all did on Tuesday the 26th. Until then...

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND! And as always...

    High Greens!

    1. I've pulled out the Avram's Bakery diorama I started late last year and "plan"... (plan, mind you) on getting the plaster streets finished or a least poured.
    2. Also want to work on a Central Valley bridge kit I've purchased. It is my attention to be working on benchwork and track in the late summer to mid-fall so I want a couple of bridges built that I know I'll need.
    3. Workers will be here in the AM to sand sheetrock, clean the room, and start installing another layer of floor underlayment.

We'll see how it goes. Mrs. Kitbash has me scheduled to assist w/ her annual planting of the herb garden in the AM and Sunday I'm to grill something. Happy Memorial Day to all.

Hoping to paint the HOn30 caboose I've nearly completed. Looking forward to the NASCAR race. And maybe...?
