Welcome back to a very special gateway to the weekend! Hard to believe but it is now Christmas weekend and where did 2022 go? For those in the states, since Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, most of us will have Monday off. That's Boxing Day to our friends in Canada and the UK. Let's see what we all have planned for the festivities and maybe some train running.

Saturday: We, like a lot of the country right now are in the middle of a cold front. Enough snow to be a nuisance, and -9 degrees. Saturday is about the same. We were supposed to have Christmas with the son, daughter and grandchild, but we may put that on hold. So, Saturday is kind of up in the air. I've been working longer hours so I still need to wrap everyone's gifts, maybe Saturday with the help of some coffee and podcasts, I can accomplish that.

CHRISTMAS: The original plan was for us to get up somewhat early and make the trek to Angela's grandma's house, you know, over the river and through the woods and all. Weather may play a part in disrupting those plans too. If we go, Ang will be cooking the meal and the father-in-law, and I will start adding some parts I bought this last week to the Falcon.

Monday: I had planned on working on the Falcon some more but, you guessed it, weather. So, this maybe a day where I work on the layout room and get some indoor things done. Who knows, maybe I can run a train or two?

So how about you? What are your Christmas and modeling plans? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Tuesday the 27th to see how our holiday went and if we snuck any modeling in. Until then, enjoy time with friends and family, be safe, stay healthy and I would like to wish you all a very...

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
    &
    High Greens!

This weekend we will be indoors as the temperatures will range from 26 to 8. When I get home from work today, I need to make a final check on the fishpond to make sure it is ready for the freeze. I will be wrapping gifts until the last minute. Christmas day will be spent opening gifts and making Christmas dinner.

I am hoping to continue adding screws to coupler clips to my Athearn and Roundhouse cars and tuning up rolling stock. I want to run some trains before the weekend is done.

    Merry Christmas!

    Good morning all,

Yes, another year has gone by. Not as cold here as many places but we have an inversion going on which has made the air quality unhealthy. My wife is sensitive to this so we have been staying in as well. We will be going across the bay to her dad's place on Christmas day. May have some video or phone calls with family in other parts of the country.

My hobby plans for the weekend will be to play around with a point to point automation circuit I just received from Azatrax while running a couple of trains around the layout. But before that I need to replace the DC power supply I was using on the layout for all the accessories. I suspect that as I have added more items to the layout over the past 8 years I had finally overloaded it, time for a bigger one.

Wishing you all a merry Christmas weekend.

Not sure what the weekend holds modeling wise. Friday is pretty much spoken for and maybe there will be some free time Saturday. Of course Sunday is Christmas! Hopefully Santa will bring something good :D I wish you all a Merry Christmas! Hope you have a great holiday weekend!

    Seasons greetings everyone!
    :)
    Friday:
Work on repairing troublesome turnouts and think about redesigning the main control panel.
    :cautious:
    Saturday:
Help Mrs Moose prepare Xmas eve dinner for just the two of da Mooses (and the cats).

    Sunday:
Have a big breakfast. Open presents. Hide Moose head in shame for not getting Mrs Moose more thoughtful and creative gifts. Help Mrs Moose prepare Xmas dinner. Drive down to step-son's house to eat said dinner -- and be licked silly by step-son's gigantor dog.

Oh, and help Mrs Moose interrogate her son regarding why he still has yet to introduce his new girlfriend to da Mooses.

    Monday:
Start Xmas shopping for more creative and thoughtful gifts for Mrs Moose next year...

Good morning from cold, windy and snowy Northeast Ohio! Temps right around "0" so waiting to hear if we will be bowling tonight as the accidents are numerous on the road reports this morning and nothing is going to improve during the day.

Yesterday was my 75th birthday and I received an ACF boxcar book along with a well hole flatcar kit done with a 3d printer. May start work on that or another kit today, but I still need to wrap gifts today.

May not hit the club on Saturday morning as it will still be bitterly cold and windy tomorrow, will see about what time I have for modeling.

Sunday, going to my son's house in North Ridgeville, so most of the day will be taken up with that trip.

    Everybody have a Merry Christmas!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL! Christmas week I will be here all week, no travels. Christmas Eve we go to my sister's house at Lake Gaston for the evening for dinner w/ all of my siblings and their families. Then Christmas day, all of our "chillren" and grandsons will be here. The rest of the week will be modeling, taking down a few decorations, finishing up some last continuing educations credits for my licensing and NC State's bowl game vs Maryland next Friday. But there will definitely be some modeling. The two (2) things I do want to accomplish are:

    1. Decaling an engine (RSD12)
    2. Putting in 2 more circuit breakers to replace 2 that failed.

Hope all here posting and lurking have a great, great Christmas and Holiday and most of all, peace to you and your families.

    And from the Albemarle Division........

First of all, I hope everyone makes it safely through the extreme cold weather. Second, MERRY CHRISTMAS! :D I know traveling may be put on hold for many. I imagine getting earmuffs on fish in the fishpond is challenging. Gotta' tune those railcars. Mid to upper 70's. You might want to keep that info from the rest of us. :sneaky: New power. Cool! Gigantor dog! Zero degrees! Happy 75th birthday! :) Cool looking Christmas gon! :p At this point, I am still working on cow building. It is going a little slow. But we will persist. (y) Some traveling coming up. Everyone be warm and safe and have fun. :D

Well, I plan on just relaxing in front of the TV for Christmas Eve Day. Football, maybe a movie. No modeling plans at all. Might do a little more reading of the new V&O book. I have been asked to work Sunday night. Gave them a definite 'maybe'. If the predicted icy, freezing rain weather has hit us by then, no way I'll try to drive in that stuff!

Merry Christmas to All. No modelling because the museum will be closed to all work prepping for an "official" opening this coming summer....maybe.

Otherwise, my and my son's family Christmas will be Saturday due to various in-law and spousal families expecting equal time.

Therefore, on Christmas day I will be escorting a widow friend of many decades and her daughter to a Christmas buffet at Gulfport's Island View Casino.

Ummm, maybe it's because you are Mooses and NOT people :) BTW, if you have Mooses ( Or is it Meeses,or... I feel like we have discussed this before? ) on your shoulder, like in the track cleaning pictures. Yeah, good luck with that! Just kidding, maybe that will be a Christmas surprise for your family? Hope so!

    Merry Christmas!

I know I haven’t been around much lately. Now that my yearly testing is complete I can focus on modeling again.

I have some scratch builds I’m attempting to complete ever so slowly.

Saturday- late train causing a nuisance. Not gonna get much done there between sleep and a party.

Christmas- between festivities I hope to start building 13 structure kits for my latest module industry park.

Monday it’s back to work for me.

Merry Christmas to all my TB friends and followers. Sorry I have not been posting over the past few months. We are in transition having recently closed on our new retirement home, while preparing for the move as well as getting the current home updated. There hasn't been much time for working on the layout. We expect to make the move south once we finally get confirmation of the furniture delivery. We were originally expecting to move during the Christmas break, but delivery is not expected now until mid-January at the earliest and there's no point going before that since the less time we have to spend sitting in camping chair and sleeping on an air bed, the better. We're only planning to be in the new home for the winter for the short term, so the layout will live on until we're ready to make the move full time, if ever. I honestly prefer the summers of Upstate NY, so I'm not ready to make the leap just yet.

There's to much to do in the short term at the new home, so modeling is not a consideration for now. But I'm thinking that a shelf layout in the garage might be on next winter's do list.

For everyone getting hammered by the "Bomb Cyclone", please stay safe. Happy Holidays to all. I hope to be back to digitally visiting with you all again soon.

Happy Holidays all! I spent the morning chipping ice off walkways and the Toyota. Ice storm throughout the Puget Sound area last night. The afternoon was taken by driving from Bellingham to Shelton. Most of the ice was gone by then.

Saturday: Plan is to retrieve my daughter from SeaTac and continue to Bellingham. However, it looks like the weather is already playing havoc with the schedule. We will see what happens.

Sunday: Gifts and meals with family.

Monday: Boxing Day soccer game. Walks with family. Pizza dinner with brother, sister-in-law and niece’s family.

Not likely to be any modeling activities. Should be fun if we can get the travel worked out.

    Merry Christmas
    Happy Hanukkah
    Stay safe,

I'm off on Christmas vacation until January 9th. So I'll need to find stuff to keep my train-brain going.

I likely take on some 3D-printed stuff I bought at the last train show (crates, more chain-link fence).

Also my Christmas tradition of running my original 1973 train set on the layout. Last year's run:

    IMGP4195.JPG

Nice that after 49 years, with a little TLC here and there, that old loco still pulls her weight. :)

Well -- between the weather and the cold, I'm pretty much staying home!!!

My brother and sister-in-law are coming up today for dinner, so a large portion of today will be taken up prepping the house for them to arrive. I am currently in the phase of deciding what industries to put in each town on the Digital San Luis and Rio Grande. To that end, I built a database to keep track of whats where and what traffic goes in and out, that way I can set up JMRI Operations Pro properly -- The database is mostly done. My hope and plan is to get some place holder buildings in place on the layout, and get a few things put in JMRI to get things started -- we'll see how it goes :D

It's already Monday as I write this, so I'll report more when the Monday/Tuesday thread gets posted, but, obviously, LOTS to do at church this weekend. Even so, since I'm on break from school, I have time to work on home projects and hobby stuff in addition to last-minute shopping and wrapping presents. My goal is to work off some of my backlog from recent acquisitions, like the one that came in the mail last week (from this forum's sale thread), as well as my box of stuff from the 70's that I'm gradually converting to metal wheels and kadee couplers.
