Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend. I got caught up in “Holiday Madness” so with the exception of running one trick on the Galesburg City Job, I did nothing regarding model railroading. How about you? Let us know. We’ll be back on Friday the 21st to do it all over again. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and as always... High Greens!
I fixed a Proto SD7 over the weekend. It ran really rough for a while then started dragging one truck, making a heck of a racket (put old school Athearns to shame!). I had put this one aside - a year ago. I decided this weekend to see what this patient was suffering from. The cover over the worm gear on the short hood end decided to simply pop off. At first, I thought it broke (I could see the worm gear on one side), but after I took apart that end, I was relieved to find it only popped off. I set the worm gear back in its cradle, popped the cover back on, put it together, and it ran like a new one. One more off the shop line. The doctor is in the house!
I got the small German kit put together. Quite difficult having to type everything into google translate so I could build it. Then I did some trees. Attempted to attack the Lou rain I built last week yesterday but found the plaster I was using to glue rocks to the plaster cloth dried too quickly. So today I will be using some joint compound to Attach rocks. This sets me back 1 day. I gotta get this dome before Christmas.
I installed a decoder in my Arnold Rapido S-2 and started decaling her. I painted some truck bogeys I purchased from Shapeways. (No pictures - yet) I finally got to a project that I have been thinking about for a long time: I installed a ladder on my cement distributors silo: Hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf
