    Aristo connections

    Kieth,
I only have one Aristocraft loco.....an older 0-4-0 switcher, that needs a new drive unit, so I dont know if they are all the same or not.......but on my unit....the electrical pickup comes through the wheels....axles....then to a couple of wiper wires that touch the axels....then to the motor. There is some lubricant on the axles....that assists in the pickup.....that can get dirty and loose connection. But like I said, I am not sure if this is the "typical " method Aristo uses, and this method is not like the USA unit I am working on. I hope to work on it this fall....as it is the Xmas loco for my shelf xmas trains.

I don't know about swapping AC Trucks over to USA Trains to be honest, I know it's been done, but I've no knowledge of doing it. Can't help you there, sorry.

    Who's attempting to swap trucks??
Not a good idea, as far as I'm aware.
But then, I've never done it, and have no plans to.

    Not so Fast

Well......not so fast my friends. I took the GP30 out today after securing the connections to the front power truck.....and ran for a while. It ran great for well close to an hour....then began its old tricks. Rear power truck operating normally, the front not. I could push it forward...and it started again once, but after that.....it would stop from time to time.....and front truck was not running at all. Im back to square one. Over the winter I will work on it some more.....and recheck all the pick ups and connections...and probably change the traction tires.....but for now Im frustrated.......and dissapointed, and up on the shelf it goes. Why am I the only one to have this problem.....?? Oh well. And no, Im not going to send it back to the factory..... shipping both ways would be more than a new power truck.
