Isopropyl Alcohol vs. Denatured

    While I cannot add anything more scientific than this, I will add I use IPA to clean track and 3-D prints, and when IPA became scarce in the first half of 2020, I resorted to Denatured Alcohol. DA was 13$ a gallon, so a bit more expensive, but widely available. I used it for cleaning resin 3-D prints before curing. I am not a chemist, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, so the below explanation might explain WHY one solvent may clean better than the next. Being simple, if one solvent didn't clean it, I went to the next. IPA, DA, acetone or even lacquer thinner. If it worked, it worked! :D

    Exactly Boxcab. I use a soft bright boy on my track at home. For locomotive cleaning, I use the 91% alcohol on a paper towel method.
