Dang, that new no-maintenance CSX frog is pretty wild. I'd have thought that wheel flanges would be damaged, but apparently not.
Not a railroader or engineer, but a bit of experience in heavy factory work, and this reminds me of times when management had an idea, an engineer implemented it and we on the floor had to deal with it until it was finally shown not to work! OK, foot headed towards mouth.
It must have been interesting to have witnessed the first test. Even at a crawl, it must have been hair-raising sight. Not something I'll be adding to my Kato Unitrack. I have a friend of a friend who's a track inspector and he's impressed with the increased safety these provide for mainline trains.
That HAS to hammer, and would one take an engine across one of these would be MIND blowing that experience.
